The signal to noise ratio on this thread is appalling. 😒

Sadly, what the govt does today will affect us a lot in the future, unlike any other time since independence.

If anybody has to say this so vocally, we know what they are desperate for.

Mr Pompeo is Right

We need US , they are present in East Asia to prevent A Chinese Domination of Japan , South Korea and other ASEAN countries

Why is someone else right about what's good for us?

How come Ajit Doval is wrong and Mike Pompeo is right?

Ajit Doval is NOT wrong

He is waiting for US elections

It is MEA that has its head in the clouds , because they are still dreaming about a Multi polar World

Basically, Doval is not in support of an alliance. He's not waiting for elections. He actually said that officially to the US, that India is its own side.

The world is going multipolar, which the US is doing its best to prevent.

How long can we Sustain the Present Forward Deployment of 1 lakh troops in Ladakh

The issue is not that of affordability, but that of reckless spending. This entire situation could have been avoided if the Chinese were not stupid enough to do what they did.

We can afford this deployment, but it's going to take its toll on men and materials over the long term. If you're thinking the deployment will magically disappear if we become allies with the US, then you are thinking the exact opposite, since the Chinese will simply become even more aggressive needing further increase in spending, including increased deployment all along the LAC, not just in Ladakh. Otoh, it's likely that the Chinese are looking for an exit instead. Even they can't afford this sort of deployment, not financially but in terms of men and material.

In the wake of tensions along the India-China border, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has given the green signal to the state to pursue the issue of construction of an airstrip at Rangrik in Spiti. The airstrip would act as a landing ground in case of any exigency.

In a letter to Himachal Pradesh Governor Bhandaru Dattatreya, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said National Highway No. 5 would be widened up to Pooh in Kinnaur district. He further said the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways be consulted for funding the construction of the road beyond Kunzam Pass to boost tourism in the region.

Rajnath also said the intelligence network should be boosted with coordinated efforts of the Army, ITBP, Ministry of Home Affairs, Border Roads Organisation and state government. He also laid stress on the security of the Atal Tunnel.

On July 27, the Governor had written a letter to Rajnath, observing there was an urgent need to have an airstrip in the Spiti valley to act as an advance landing ground and developing helipads in forward areas. He had also sought a robust tele-communication network in border villages.
