I haven't watched the interview yet but I wouldn't read much into his tone. His normal mode is to cry and sound like he got a beating. He has spent his entire career doing 'kadi ninda' - harsh criticism
Professionals are on the job and what ever the outcome, I expect them to go all in and strategically better the Chinese.
Tell me wether we really lost territory to Chinese,lot of twitter accounts some Indian members of other forums all some what agreeing that.

It all depends who you intend to believe. If you have an inclination towards Pravin Sawhney then be ready for alien invasion. If you trust other veterans account like @desertfox611 then we can take them on. During UPA 2 we lost humungous amount to area to Chinese. This face off is equally due to Indian Army stoppage of Chinese salami slicing as it is due to infra development on our side of LAC.
Don't worry too much, if war happens, it will be big enough for the world to notice. China won't have capacity to wage another war which brings me to my conclusion that if the Chinese can be 'convinced' they have much to lose then the war might not happen after all.

We have lost 40k square km to Chinese in 1962 war, my state Kerala area is around 36-37K square kilometres. I am pretty sure that we didn't lost much land to Chinese in that scale. Happened is happened,I hope goi will stop taking an military a ride for industry, technological revolution inthis country. We should have top end equipment with us, money should not be an obstacles. We are not spending not even 2 percentage of our GDP for defence. Instead of crying for tot ,make in india government should understand if military doesn't have proper gears in numbers we will lose the battle. It doesn't matter the howitzer you are using is made in india or made,it has to be available.
Last week I heard disappointing news from CDS that he doesn't want mmrca2, insted Tejas will fill the gap. I don't know what sort of sick mind is have, with a fighter jet which is barely capable of matching PAF's old f16 how we can fight a 2 front war?Do Tejas mk1/2a/2 will have a chance against j20,j11,su30,j10s of Chinese? How Tejas will perform in Ladakh & what will be it's combat reach in Tibet? I should not tell but I feel present CDS is the worst thing happened to IN &IAF.
I don't know when our men in uniform will get proper gears? No adequate howitzer,no fighters,no adequate AWACS,not muchbrefuelers, ,I think IA still using old Gypsies in J&K and Ladakh ( correct me if I am wrong),and these all are happening when armies around thebworld are using Vehicles like Oshkosh & hummer.
Be ready to lose some more in coming future. I can understand your frustration.They can't produce their own weapons, and when they import it either takes a scam for that or decades. When the atmosphere in the country is more political than progressive then what else you expect? When a third class country like Pakistan laughs after slapping whole GOI and getting free escape then you should not expect much.
The simple one word answer is : YES, we have lost territory to China in Laddakh.
Details are :
1. It happened in 1962 and in a way in 1993, 96.
2. We did not agree to even a line of control or status quo till 1993. After that we agree to "line of actual control" but never defined what it was. Internationally, this lead to the position taken by China in 1960, which the achieved in 1962 militarily as line of actual control.
3. There is very little permanent presence of any side in that territory lost, so it is not comparable to say Gilgit Batlistan. Tomorrow, if Indian Army marches in that area, for most parts they will meet some modest resistance from China and march in vast emptiness.
