Pretty big win if true. Finland follows up and it's F-16 style winning from now on.

Both Swiss and Fin have American aircraft already, which plays a major part in their decision, so the French are playing from behind. But yeah, these two countries are not like the other more traditional American markets. It's gonna be a pretty big win, especially since the F-35's up against the latest F4.2.

I've been waiting for Swiss and Finnish evaluations for years now.

Real answer before the end of this month.
15 days ago it was the Rafale that was said to be the winner.... wait and see Bro.

I'm afraid the sole efficient piece of F35 is the simulator.
Lol. This says a lot about Rafale and its shortcomings. Finns are next and then Canada will finally
join and become one of us... ONE OF US! ONE OF US! :ROFLMAO:

F16 is not a LM product. It's a GD one...

F35 needs all the LM marketing to blind the potential customers.
Which is now part of LM. I should also point out that as well as Lockheed producing the Trident D-5, Martin Marietta (the Martin part) produced the Peacekeeper. They have Dassault comfortably outclassed on every level.

It says nothing. You can boost the perf of your F35 in the simulator, this "bird" will never be able to catch a real life lost liner.

Mainly on the level of delay, over price, under spec.
With Boeing it seems to be a US specialty now.

Delay huh? It took until 2001 for Dassault to provide an F-16 alternative and it will take until 2040 for them to provide an F-35 alternative (if they don't fall out with the Germans), by which time NGAD will be out. The US will probably have colonised Mars before you have an NGAD alternative.

Mirage 2000-5mk2 is on par with F16 for years.
Rafale is able to make the job of F16, F18, SH18, F15 at least.

NGAD is just the pragmatic result of the F35 overall failure. F35 may probably never be fully operationnal. (remember : only a very political IOC 15 years after pres serial first flight !. No FOC on the horizon)

Lol. NGAD is not a result of F-35 failure stop pulling claims out of your butt. Swiss will select the F-35 and you will claim all sorts of BS reasons why Swiss selected the F-35. Just remember wherever the Rafail competes with F-35 it always loses. All those nations where Rafale has been selected recently the F-35 was not offered. ;)

Gotta be careful with your words though. In case Rafale beats the F-35 in Switzerland and Finland, then that's gonna be really bad news for LM.

Being ahead in tech specs can mean anything, some of which does not have to be combat related or even related to the fighter jet at all, like the ALIS maintenance system. Then there's also another category which separates under development features from operationally tested features. For some air forces, this second category is more important than just having superior paper specs.

Right now, all we know is the F-35 has a better simulator. We currently have very limited information about the Rafale F4.2.

Then comes the most important category, costs. As long as the jets make the cut, the cost decides the winner. If the Swiss are only looking at upfront costs, then LM can easily underquote today and then make it back later when sustainment costs come in. But if the Swiss are looking at lifecycle costs, then LM can't afford to sell the jets at a loss. This is what's gonna make or break the F-35 in both Switzerland and Finland. FYI, the Typhoon beat the Rafale in India's MMRCA on tech specs, but the Rafale still won the bid.

Mirage LOL.

Nope NGAD was planned to replace the fighters that the F-35 wouldn't be replacing. F-35 replaces F-18C/D, F-16 and AV-8B, NGAD replaces SH, F-15C/D and F-22.

The F-35 already won the test evaluation, the final decision is purely political now.

You might even call it the Re-fail.

It's not over till it's over. I would just say that the reaction that some people are gonna have would be the opposite if their plane won.

Lockheed may offer a performance based contract.

the final decision is purely political now.

Doubt it. The Swiss have been following procedure. Only if they cancel the tender and buy their choice will it be political.

Cost's gonna decide it, like it did during the first tender, where the choice was apolitical.

Capability is also going to decide it which the F-35 won hands down. If cost is their concern they can always buy F-16's or
F-18E's. Swiss know Europe is going F-35 for a good reason (capability) and they don't want a 4th gen fighter that will be inferior
in 15-10 years from now.
