That NOTAM looked like for Astra 2(said it before). The 180kms range is a dead giveaway. So was Astra 2 tested yesterday? Praying for some confirmation. With Chinese threat looming over us, Astra 2 is needed in huge numbers to counter PL-15.

Area usually gets some extra buffer zone too, could be anything or nothing. Nobody said or reported anything official
It’s puzzling. Why would they choose a flight path towards western Odisha? Where did the missile land? Plus why there is no news from Chatisgarh or Jharkand?
If any test went on, it is done with safety precautions. My guess is su30 going supersonic is the reason, explosions obviously we can not explain. But missiles are fired at various speed of the jet, 05mach to supersonic, and we know there are 2 Su30 currently modified for NGARM & Astra firing. Astra is currently noted with project astra mk1 UT indicating user trial. So it could be a stage where the firing of it is tested at high speed.
It could also be gaurav type glide bombs who knows. Notam was 3-14th long and today morning I checked at around 11, it seemed it was active, planes were leaving the area.
I can understand a sonic boom by Sukhois. I have personally witnessed sonic booms around 1992-93 at Baripada ( Northern Odisha). However, I don’t see any rationale behind a missile test over land. The risk level is extremely high in case the missile fails.
Its not land, its likely upping speed over land, approaches sea & then targets the makeshift target on wheeler island at an angle , then veers away.
