Off-Topic Chit-Chat

I prefer to travel by train across india - Each time the train crosses a bridge, people (mostly educated) will toss their religious waste in plastic bags in the rivers below. I got into several altercations and decided not to intervene. Kya farak padta hai.

True ,need to imbibe a scientific attitude. Even our religion says so but over the years , some people corrupted Hinduism and pushed people into superstition and the scientific attitude vanished.
Ancient India was the innovator of the world. We need a renaissance on the lines of Christians in medieval history

Top polluted cities in india, most ground water/marine pollution in india, fastest receding water table levels in india, fastest shrinking wildlife habitats in India, the Ganges reduced to a gutter, animals and birds on the verge of extinction. Hinduism advocates harmony with the environment. Where did it go wrong then .. oh those Muslims. Darn.
Of course it’s Muslims dummy

Its wrong to say 'others' corrupted Hinduism. Not disposing off religious plastic waste into ocean or rivers is common sense. Since Hinduism is way of life and not an organized religion, each person has his or her own interpretation, which has made hindus an ignorant species, doing as they please.

i hope to god no one puts dead bodies inside the ganga
Mata Ganga is part and parcel of my existance. I go and bath in it every 2-3 months. I have seen how it is changing now and how the waters have become cleaner. I also go to Haridwar every year. Please do not do the contempt of teaching me about Mata Ganga.

It was reduced to being a gutter under those who called Lord Rama a fictitious character. If you have any guts, go and see how clean the waters are now compared to what it was about six years ago. Do whatever you want to, but please do not teach me about Mata Ganga.

whether today or later, letting people submerge the ashes but not the decomposing bodies is a good idea.

Sir, if you give it more thought then you may realise that those 'religious waste ' must have been thrown into the river for centuries but they didn't polluted the river until the advent of large scale factories and industries. What could be the reason of it??

That religious waste was mostly flowers and earthern pots which do not pollute the waters but help conserve the ecosystem of a river.

Right sir, I was just trying to tell him that the pollution of river has nothing to do with our religious activities and everything to do with the continuous flow of industrial waste in rivers.

Looks like you're going to have the time of your life, Paddy , right thru the 2020's.

Here. I've come up with a suitable anthem.

No need to thank me. After all what're old pals for?

Hmm so disposal of used plastic is fine? I have repeatedly told them use paper, once a guy said plastic does not pollute ocean. I shook his hands and left lol. Those industries are being run by the 18% muslims in india lol.

Sir kindly tell me when did I supported the disposal of used plastic. Even @vstol Jockey sir has cleared it that the 'religious waste '
( your choice of words) mostly includes Earthen pots and flowers.

Now please tell me where does Muslims come into all of this. I have never said that only they are guilty of polluting the river. Instead I have said that industries and factories are responsible for it irrespective of whom run it.

My point simply was that you can't blame Dharmic activities for the pollution of rivers.

Absence of suspended particulates doesn't mean that the water is clean. It continues to remain a toxic cocktail of effluents. IIT BHU has a lab on the banks to verify the water quality, and the reports are dismal.

Way back in 1991, I and my wife, danced on this number and had won the prize for best dancing couple of "wills, made for eachother" couple in 33rd wing IAF while being posted with IAF. We were married for just six months at that time. We again won the prize for best dancing couple in Goa in 1992 in Navy Day celeberations. Even today, I and my wife can set any dance floor on fire.

My point is that Hindus have not done enough for the environment and continue to be ignorant. I ask folks why use POP for statues that get tossed into the sea or ponds - they give me the same excuse - 'industries pollute more, why blame our traditions'. Where did this come from?

Sir AFAIK most of the idols are made by mud.
Being said that I want to make clear that I am defending my traditions not 1 billion Hindus . I could hardly take guarantee of so many people that they will not do something that should not be done.
Making statues of POP isn't our tradition.
Please suggest them to make it of mud.
