Revenue of the Fauji group is trivial at the scale we are talking about. Its 2017 revenue was about 1.5 Billion.Take out the generous salaries, expenses, the net disposable income will not be over 500 million. Best guess cash reserves are 4-5 Billion (all channels black and white included).
The point I am making is that the Pakistan army has a war chest - taken literally. Their country might be bankrupt but they have the cash to fight a decent war. This is why they have not folded yet.

Indian case is very confused, we genuinely believe and still do that we can be friends with Pakistan, that there is something called Hindu Muslim Bhai bhai that Pakistan will realize after we do good to them. This misconception comes after our experience with Indian muslims who are under no delusion of being Arabs unlike Pakistanis.
If Pakistan army has to sell Pakistani people's mothers and sister for money to fight against India they won't hesitate a bit. They are already doing it when their sisters and daughters being sold into brothel of China Pakistan army is conveniently taking their cut. Do you think they are not aware of these fake marriages and what happens afterwards? They are facilitators to appease Chinese to help them against India. They said it publicly that letting their Hubra Bustard killed by Arabs on their leisure trip is part of their foreign policy where girls and daru is provided to Arabs in the land of pure.
Pakistani hatred for India is permanent and it will end with end of Pakistan. They are ready to go to any length against India don't be under any doubt.
In this information age, the misconception of being the ruler of indian subcontinent won't last for long as when confronted with the fact that the only region of which was ruled by foreign Muslim for 1000 years is Pakistan..There is a reason why Afghans say Punjabis never stood up for anything in their history, Punjabi implying Pakistani in their racist mindset..it was only the Sikh empire which turned the tides of invasion against the Afghans and invaded Khyber Pakhtunwa..which Pakistan retained after British left India...The term "daalkhor" used by Afghans instead of Punjabi came into existence as initial Sikh jathedars were amritdharis and were vegetarian..and daal was best military ration for them as being dry it was easy to transport, easily available and has good nutritional value..When a Choudhary,Bajwa,Bhatti of Pakistan is confronted with the fact that he ain't no conquerer, they just lose it and autistic screeching is their last resort.
Agree to most of the points above. I am just trying to find the reason to the madness. Thinking like them is the first step in understanding what goes in their minds. I genuinely feel the level of misunderstanding and mistrust between the India Pakistan is far higher than the US-Soviet ever had, including the times the Cold War was at its peak.
Their level of misunderstanding about India is so high they actually thought Pulwama was a good idea. Whereas everyone else was looking at them and thinking - A nationalist government has been thrown a challenge 2 months before general elections. Sweet....

The author retired as a special secretary in the cabinet secretariat as a specialist in security matters especially related to Pakistan. That's code for R&AW. While there are plenty of books on Pakistan, it's army, it's national ideology, this can serve the purpose of a good primer.

Finance secretary was the dissenting voice in the negotiations between IMF and Pakistan. He was against the harsh terms and conditions. Not surprisingly he has been shown the door so that IMF has the entire team under their control.
