Type 212 are one the most deepest diving conventional subs out there.... Conventional Sub running on diesel power which can dive to great depths are practically useless by the way.The Baltics are not exactly very deep. So their so called non magnetic hull is pretty useful there. But that has the limitations of strength due to which it cannot dive as deep as say it's normal export variant the Type 214 using conventional steel.
But in our context a lot of missions will happen in IOR given the increased Chinese presence here. So capabilities to dive deeper will be required.
Japanese knew they wouldn't be able to fullfill the ToT conditions, so they withdrew. The Spanish have not. Lets see.Was the Soryu japan SSK taking in consideration for P75I ?
No they aren't. Type 212 and Soryu are having some limitations. Type 212 due to metal used. Soryu due to AIP used.Type 212 are one the most deepest diving conventional subs out there.... Conventional Sub running on diesel power which can dive to great depths are practically useless by the way.
Why would they have to choose a magnetic hull if it's not suitable for us?The Baltics are not exactly very deep. So their so called non magnetic hull is pretty useful there. This doesn't look like a derivative a of Type-212. But Type-212CD, it's obvious from the angled hull design. Don't go by the name, it's a very different and bigger 2,500+ ton submarine. The Type 212 has diving depth limitations, so it will not be exactly that.
I think it's more of a modernisation of Type 218. The upcoming Dakar Class maybe.

Not sure if Spanish offering is any good, however I want L&T to win this contract.Ball in Navy court after Germany, Spain complete trials for Rs 43,000 cr submarine contest.

Arre I mean rhetorically , Navy will follow all the due process but probably will clear both options & say they are ok with any one. So that is like the rafale deal can go thru G2G route. lets see.View attachment 34703
Next will be Staff Evaluation -> Contract Negotiation committee.

I have a similar sentiment. S80 design with indian AIP would be perfect, i dont know if it s possible in the tender terms. Not sure if Spanish offering is any good, however I want L&T to win this contract.
Why trying to fit the indian AIP on the S80 when it is nearly made on Scorpene ? Scorpene already well known and produce on the indian soil?I have a similar sentiment. S80 design with indian AIP would be perfect, i dont know if it s possible in the tender terms.
It will be good for the indian shipbuilding industry in the long run. Two shipyards producing SSKs.
They should move forward with Project 76 in parallel and hand it over to whoever loses P75I.
No, Its way bigger than Scorpene. Which is one of the key requirements of the tender. If scorpene was so good you should have participated. Why trying to fit the indian AIP on the S80 when it is nearly made on Scorpene ? Scorpene already well known and produce on the indian soil?
After all S80 is a copy and fail paste of Scorpene....
The end of the Cold War meant that funding dried up and the joint venture had to wait until 1997 for their first sale - to Chile - of the new design, which was designated the Scorpène class in export markets. The same year Spain started to look again at its requirements, and in 1998 they indicated that they would buy four Scorpènes, optionally with an air-independent propulsion (AIP) system for greater endurance when submerged. A staff requirement for the S-80 Scorpène variant was completed in October 2001. This was soon overtaken by events, as the Armada (navy) became more interested in using submarines for power projection than in a more static, defensive role. This shift was codified in guidance of January 2002 from the Chief of Naval Operations and in the strategic defence review of February 2003. The new requirement called for a larger submarine with better endurance and land-attack missiles, which became known as the S-80A design. This was an AIP submarine with a hull diameter of 7.3 metres (23 ft 11 in) compared to 6.2 metres (20 ft 4 in) for the Scorpène family, a submerged displacement of around 2,990 tonnes versus 1,740 tonnes, larger rudder surfaces and a different fin position.

Lol, Woke germans are the main issue unlike Spaniards. Can someone confirm if we're being offered the Type 212CD model, or Type 214 mod? If it's the former, the IN has probably already made up its mind.
It's a safer bet imo. There's no third country involvement. The Germans make everything from the combat system and weapons to hull and propulsion. Not so in case of the Spaniards.
We've dealt with them all these years one way or another. Type 209, SUT torpedo, towed sonar, etc.Lol, Woke germans are the main issue unlike Spaniards.
