Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

The Transfer of Technology is much better
In the Second deal

DRDO is the prime beneficiary in the Technology offsets

what transfer technology? oh I forgot Modijis charisma is so great that the transfer of tech they did not give for 126 jets was lesser than the offer for 36 jets.

work share was completed. And price negotiations 'complted' is 40% more than what was proposed before. 'better' deal is less work done in India than before. And of course, Ambani who had not even an empty plot gets to 'build' rafale.

Price negotiations were never completed in the First Deal

Basically Dassault wanted Management
Control

HAL wanted to do things in the Old Sukhoi Russian way

We could have made a new JV of Dassault
And HAL

And Given Management Control to Dassault

yes, we paid 40% more per plane because price negotations were not complete and we brought in somoene who ran a telecom compnay to make rafale because hal refused to make JV.

oh wow, you couldn't have negotaiated that with 126 jets. Excpetional.

Blame HAL for their Intransigence

Or Rather the terms and Conditions of the
RFP in the MMRCA 1 , which stipulated
Only Assembly by HAL

There was no mention of Technological offsets

Yes ...HAL was intransigent and so we were forced to ask McDonals to make the Jet. And of course UPA wanted only assembly and not tech transfer. The fact that they passed a bill saying every single defence acquisition should have minimum 51% production in India was eye wash. The fact that they insisted on local production while Modi gave large parts of that up when he reduced order value from 126 to 36 jets should not count.

can you please tell me which component of the 36 contracted Rafale is being built in India by Ambani? Have we given any follow up orders to these 36 which need to have an Indian content?

The earlier deal is cheaper because there
Is No Transfer of Technology

On licenced assembly like Sukhoi

thank you for proving my point. As for details of what ambani is building you can see it in the posts that SC has put up.

Both Dassault and HAL wanted Management Control in the earlier deal

Hence negotiations were not progressing

There was mistrust and suspicion

HAL refused to sign Guarantee clause for the jets they were to produce and wanted DA to sign instead. How can DA take responsibility for a product which has not been produced by them? The kind of safety clauses and guarantees which are asked from all others except for HAL are extremely serious. HAL is a DPSU which is not answerable to anyone.

The only mistake was to involve Ambani

This noise is because of Ambani

L and T , or TATA , and there would have been no controversy

Ambani is a Panvati ( bad Omen ) for India

therefore the better option is to give it to a guy who has no expereince in...anything...? if 'push comes to shove' why won't you give to HAL nonethless- I'd prefer someone who built 250 Sukhois including many built locally over some one who has no expereience in anything.

Apart from your obvious attempt to ignore the fact that modi rigged the whole thing for ambani You are seriously underestimating the future implications of this. Ambani has a clear business model now- he is stepping away from consumer businesses and moving into governement controlled utilities and monopolies. His strategy is pretty simple- enter sectors like power/ defence/ water and utilities and create monopoly situations. After that start jacking up prices and squeeze public money for profits. And because he is by then in a controlling position no one can deny him what he asks (apart from bribing politicos). He took over electricity distribution in Delhi - when AAP cut prices by 50% did delhi government go bankrupt? did any power company go bankrupt? this *censored* gets control of defence deals, he will push up spares and maintaience and prices b 30% using all kinds of excuses? You think you can prevent it? Or you think he's in this for charity?

NO.
Now that DA has chosen Panwati Ambani, they will have to guarantee the aircraft built at DRAL as and when it happens and if it at all happens. Bcoz the production will be under their control as per their standards and quality control. This was not the case with HAL. HAL wanted complete freedom but wanted DA to take responsibility. Its like a person asking someone else to take care of his children. Why and how can anyone agree to that?
