The world can only build effective mechanisms to deter aggressors if countries such as India have a voice in them.
This is boost phase interception. It has been discussed a lot in US military research. Result has always been same : It is hard to achieve. Best it can be achieved against likes of North Korea but against likes of Russia or China? not possible! This relies on detection of launch using IR signature of a launch (IIRC) using electro optic satellites like US SBIR. If and when war reaches this stage : those satellites will be taken out first using ASAT weapons leaving a gaping hole in any kind of surveillance.
There is another method of boost phase interception; using IR based A2A missiles. Very much possible against likes of north korea, but nothing is possible against likes of big countries like china and russia.
