Take the UK and US. Both democratic, both capitalist, both have independent executive, judicial and legislative, both support free speech, equality and civil rights. Both speak the same language. Their friends are our friends, and the same goes for enemies.

What exactly does India have in common with Russia aside from the fact that members of your citizenry occasionally like talking sh1t about 'the west'* as evidenced above?

*Even though it's been a long time since 'the west' was just the west, if it even ever was.

The Russians have veto power. We don't.

India uses Russia to balance relations with the West. And the West knows this very well, hence the desperate need to separate India from Russia so that India can be bullied later on. Plus the ridiculous notion that India will make enemies of an erstwhile superpower and a defacto nuclear power simply because we share an independent media with the West.

India doesn't see Russia as a political, economic or military competitor and vice versa, but the West does. So Russia's not our problem, it's yours.

Then your are a fool. The CCP wouldn't even exist were it not for Russia and now China has Russia by the balls anyway.

No. Ever since 1969, the Russians and Chinese have become enemies. Even after the Cold War, Russian and Chinese relations have been politically strained. It's why Russia-India relations have flourished. Both countries are using each other to contain China. And so far, it's worked. China is the reason why Russia pulled India into the SCO. Russia also allows Indian involvement in the CAR because of China. So the mutual benefits obtained from our relations have been far deeper than what the US and UK have offered to date.

Russia-China rivalry will continue. The Russians will simply dangle an oil discount carrot in front of China, as they have done with India, and this will give Russia plenty of leverage over China. The Chinese are not gonna rock the boat when they have their own work cut out for them.

Basically, India today needs Russia to contain China, contain Pakistan, provide veto support and provide access to the CAR, all for the cost of a few weapons and some barrels of oil. We benefit every which way in this relationship. The West is gonna have to get used to this.

16% which they can buy from elsewhere at a slightly higher cost won't cause anything like the instability witnessed in Tiananmen Square in 1989, and they dealt with that, so they don't give two f*cks.

It already has diversified away from Russia and diversified its economy, far more so than Russia or India. You're kidding yourself, you know what your saying is false and you're just saying it anyway for the sake of argument.

It isn't lower than the likes of Saudi Arabia. If it wasn't about a monopoly for Russia then they wouldn't be in Ukraine or Syria, simple as that, no more evidence required.

Oh yeah, especially with all the equipment they lost, the general costs of deployment, all the sanctions, the destroyed ammo dump and oil depot. War is a great way to achieve a budget surplus. Dear me, let me talk to your teapot instead.

China doesn't have the kind of leverage like Europe does. China, like India, pays the "Asian Premium" for OPEC oil, meaning we pay more for oil than the West does. In fact, Western purchases are subsidised by higher Asian purchases. So the Chinese cannot replace Russian oil for the same price, even more so with a 35+% discount. Plus China needs massive gas supplies without further overburdening their already overburdened ports, hence the need for piped gas from Russia.

Basically, remove the Middle East and Africa from China's replacement suppliers, and you will get the answer. While Europe can replace Russian oil with the help of US, ME and Africa, the Chinese cannot do the same.

It's also why Japan doesn't want to give up its oil businesses in Russia.

If China backs away from Russian oil, the oil prices will go through the roof and murder their own economy. India will step in to replace some of that lost oil due to the pressure on our own economy. Europe and everybody else will have to suffer high oil prices too. This is just common sense.

China is simply stuck with Russia.

The only signal I see is a signal that your membership of the Quad is a waste of time, since you wouldn't actually help anyone else in need anyway, you just joined in the hope that they might help you when you are in need. Partners like that are no partners at all.

QUAD is China-specific. Even if they do not publicly say it, it has nothing to do with any other country in any other part of the world. All the QUAD supplied technologies, like access to CENTRIXS, are also China-specific.

Even if the US finds itself in trouble with Madagascar, India won't involve itself in that issue.

This is what the joint statement says:
We will continue to prioritize the role of international law in the maritime domain, particularly as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and facilitate collaboration, including in maritime security, to meet challenges to the rules-based maritime order in the East and South China Seas.

The only extra countries mentioned are Myanmar and NoKo.

When it comes to Ukrainian numbers, they have 27 combat brigades.

7 are west of the river in the south protecting Mykolaiv and Odessa. 7 are around Kiev, north. And 13 are east of the river.

Interesting discussion with an interesting panel as usual hosted by a dunce who tries her best to derail discussions ,butting in repeatedly with her half baked uninformed opinions exposing her ignorance more than anything ,

Yet when has that prevented her from hosting such discussions , The Print from continuing as her employer & us from suffering her in the hope of discovering some pearls among the grain & immense chaff.
