Ukraine - Russia Conflict

But this would result in Nato going to war. Because russia will respond back.
It's Turkey's territory, just like the Suez Canal is Egypt's, they don't have to let anyone through. It's a courtesy to the courteous. Russia can respond, but land vs ship, my money is on the land. Then Russia has the choice of starting a full blown war or simply accepting that it is wrong.

:ROFLMAO:

Yeah, you sure helped Bucha, Hostomel and Irpin evacuate.

So in the first week, when they had surprise on their side, they advanced fast, now they are taking it slow deliberately after suffering heavy losses, but the reason is 'humanity' and not chasing objectives. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

:coffee: off-topic in a few words: India, that nation is a U-n-i-o-n. One western mind might not understand how all those diversities could unite together in such a complex æquilibrium: 36states &territories, xxxlanguages, xreligions, xxx(?)casts, ethnics: why i think one can’t blame “racists”.
And the problem starts when someone starts unifying things in india, one language, one culture, one food habits, one religion etc.

India is naturally diverse and some ppl are hell bent on trying to go against this very nature. Hard fact is that even a particular language or religion is so varied & different that each region has its own dialect/customs that it will simply end up evolving to being different on its own.

Problem is that we are trying to imitate other rigid countries/cultures which are monotheistic or racist & materialistic , who pigeon hole themselves into narrow mindedness and cannot look beyond their region/religion/race.

The proposal is stupid. It demonstrates zero understanding of the factors at plays, or the participants. At this stage who in their right mind would even trust a deal made with Putin?

Russia will take and hold both Donbas and Crimea. They may even make a play for Odessa. There's no way for Europe to negotiate their way out of this with half-assed measures. Which is why I keep saying this is a stupid war. Only America wins.

China wins too, because they will be funding Russia and getting Russia in debt. It's a stupid war because Putin is essentially giving up trading relations with Europe for the sake of some land in Ukraine, assuming he even wins.

According to data from the Russian Federal Statistics Service, in 2013 EU Member States accounted for 57% of Russian exports and 46.5% of Russian imports, making the Union by far Russia's most significant trading partner.

So roughly EUR16-18bn per month, or EUR200bn per year, which is equivalent to about 15% of Russian GDP, with associated knock-on effects inside Russia amounting to $600-900bn . You can see the dip after 2014:

The GDP of Ukraine in 2013 was $183bn, less now. So explain to me how the seized territory will ever be worth it to Russia?

You are right on negotiation, there is absolutely no point, the Ukrainian military are the only ones who can 'negotiate' with Russia.

The idea of asking people to cede land in exchange for peace is just war wearing a costume.

The first step in the peace plan, according to the newspaper, is a cease-fire and the demilitarization of the front lines.

The second point is that Ukraine would be a neutral country.

The third point is a bilateral agreement between Russia and Ukraine to clarify the future of Crimea and Donbas. The agreement would deal with cultural and language rights and guarantee the free movement of people, goods and capital. The plan, according to Repubblica, indicates that Crimea and Donbas would have almost complete autonomy, including in questions of defense, but would be part of Ukraine.

The fourth point would be a multilateral peace agreement between the European Union and Russia that would include a staged withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and the winding down of Western sanctions against Moscow, according to the WSJ report.

Do these guys think the Russians are actually stupid? The 1st, 3rd and 4th are already unworkable while 2nd is merely a default. chosen by Ukrainians themselves. The Russians are never gonna give up on either Crimea or Donbas.

These terms could have worked before 24th Feb, barely. Today, they are a joke.

Gotta give it to the British to try and make the situation even worse.

They send bombers near to our PM while he is in Japan, you wanna support such people?

I don't think the Russians will interfere in a US-China war. But the war will drive them towards other objectives in the West and the ME.

This map would help explain why Russia will become more important in the near future.

The Russians are bound to use the Northern Route and the Transpolar Route to their advantage due to their dominant position in the region, and there's nothing Europe and the US can do about it. Geography always wins.

dude, its not our war. Sending bombers by russia/china is nothing new. This sabre-rattling will continue as they are sizing up each other. Its just we get to see what western media portrays. Even west does the same.

That route is frozen for most of the year, need ice cutters and not much commercially viable.
