Ukraine - Russia Conflict

'Peak' doesn't mean that it won't be valuable afterwards. Adjusted for inflation, the highest price of gold was in 1980, but gold is still valuable. You miss what I'm saying, the world population is growing, and the global economy is growing in general, so non-transport uses will increase. It won't fully adjust for the loss of personal transport but oil will still be very profitable for those with low production costs. Not all oil uses even have emissions, so it's nothing to do with renewables.

Gold has immense value, oil has zero value. It's a one use item that just goes up in smoke once used. A large chunk of petrochemical alternatives are also being explored, like synthetic DNA.

America this, America that. No talk of what Russia is doing ever. Russia has no agenda. Russia has fired more cruise missiles of Kalibr type alone in Ukraine than the NATO has fired of any type of cruise missile since 1990. In fact, that became true a month ago. This doesn't include Kalibrs used in Syria or other stand-off missiles used in Ukraine (Iskander-M/Ks, P-800s, Zircons, Kh-22/32s, Kh-59MK2/Kh-69s. They have no means of persuasion, only force.

PS: Presidential terms are always 4 years in the US. Maximum is 8 years (2 terms).

As the weaker player, the Russians are doing since the end of the Cold War what China and India have done since after WW2, ie, keep their noses clean while buying time. China is now ending that period of inactivity because they feel they can challenge the world order now. Hence the need for the US to play these games. So stop being a gullible child. The US has always worked using the principle of "My way or the highway". This is how politics works.

You seriously wanna compare what Russia has done in foreign countries versus what NATO has done? Let's just say Russia has killed civilians, but that's only a fraction of what NATO has done since the end of the Cold War.

Anyway Lysychansk has almost fallen. The front is moving towards Siversk.

You really understand nothing about oil. I've already explained the other uses.

Here are some examples of what we owe to oil, every day of our lives:

  • At school: rulers, crayons, ink and cartridges, glue, coverings on books, binders...
  • For your health: coatings for pills, binding agent for creams, disposable syringes...
  • In the home: contact lenses, cosmetics, clothing, fabrics, nail polish, deodorants, shampoo, paint, upholstery and carpets, detergents for washing up and laundry, dry-cleaning fluid...
  • Out shopping: shopping bags, credit cards, egg cartons, plastic milk bottles
  • While cooking: non-stick pans, cling film, storage containers
  • For building: roofing tiles, pipes, insulating material, paint
  • On the move: petrol and diesel for cars and lorries, emergency services and trains, asphalt road surfaces
  • In the office: computer hardware, phones and faxes, diskettes, pens, chairs, printing ink
  • At your leisure: CDs, videos, cassette tapes, camera film, artists' paint, bicycle handlebar grips, tyres, crash helmets, football boots, trainers, shin pads, windsurfers, roller blades
  • Garden: fertilisers, pesticides, garden furniture

Gold is mostly just used for vanity by comparison.

Lol, I pointed out just a week ago that, once Lysychansk falls, Putin will be able to push for mobilisation.
Can't see how that one city would determine it really. Surely taking it should make mobilisation less likely, i.e. moving forwards rather than backwards. We'll see what happens when he tries to implement it.

It was the last city left for conquering Luhansk. It had no strategic or tactical value, it's value was only political. Zelensky didn't want to give up the last stronghold in Luhansk.

Even today, the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk region holds no military value. But withdrawing from there would mean Donbas ends up under Russian control without a fight. So even that's another political decision. Ukrainian and Western military experts have argued for moving the frontline to the Dnipro-Kharkiv line, ie, the Dneiper River. So, basically, what it means is all the Ukr troops who are gonna die fighting to keep Donbas are gonna die in vain. But pulling back to the main river will complicate Russia's offensive significantly. So that's the Mykolaiv-Zapo-Dnipro line in the south. Going east to Kharkiv. Of course, if Kharkiv falls, they will have to completely pull back across the river, or at least up to Poltava in the center.

If the Russians mobilise, then the UAF will have to fall back to the river and sue for peace. Of course, by then Mykolaiv and Odessa would have fallen too. The only question then is where the Russians will actually stop. 'Cause after Popasna fell, holding Donbas became meaningless to the UAF. In Lysychansk, the UAF has completely lost the will to fight, and these are their best guys.

Much like electronics and aerospace, the quantity of gold required is negligible, in fact, even more so. Other materials and metals can be used too, in certain application, gold would be unsuitable, i.e. ones for consumption, or that risk consumption. They are unlikely to use gold, when cheaper alternatives exist.

This doesn't explain why they're mobilising now, rather than sooner or later, and I'm not convinced mobilisation will work. It's one thing getting people to accept being at war, it's another thing telling them to go die. It's also a massive effort to train them. Meanwhile, more and more artillery and MLRS come into Ukraine. The war is getting costly. Ukraine is currently downplaying Russian casualties having watched the videos. There's no telling how many have died when ammo-dumps go supernova.

Don't believe Russian PR, Ukrainian PR says the same about Russians. The difference is that Ukrainians are fighting for their own country, Russians are fighting for the ego and vanity of a madman and nothing more. It'll be a good chance for NATO to thin out the herd indirectly though, if mobilisation does happen. Make sure that Russia won't be keen on fighting another war for a long time.

Covert mobilisation has been happening for a long time.

To declare a full mobilisation Putin has to completely re-write Russian laws. Under current Russian law, a full mobilisation can only be declared if Russia is attacked by another country. He could get around that by redefining Russian borders, but anyone who falls for that is a dummy and deserves to die in a war.

Lol. Gold doesn't disappear out of existence. You are comparing the wrong things here.

Who is believing Russian PR? It's the Ukrainians themselves giving us information about the poor state of affairs in Donbas for their troops, like Russia's 10 times superior artillery barrage and their insanely high casualty rate. All the Russians are doing is releasing pics of captured territories.

Outside the West, we are just using common sense and basic information to come to accurate conclusions, unlike the sheep in the West. Lysychansk has fallen and there are videos of UAF troops running away from the battlefield in a hurry.

What propaganda can you get out of this?

Hell, they are getting shot at while running away.

LPR trooper at Lysychansk city hall.

This war has become a one-sided slaughter. Mobilisation will bring in far more troops and equipment, and some of the limitations on their air force will be relaxed. From a stupid war, it's become a ridiculous war.

ukrainans hit belgorod inside russia, which will end up giving more support to putin papa. putin will now be free to drop s*** wherever he wants.

Lol, those tiny attacks won't do anything. Those are just PR stunts. Israel sees more attacks from terrorists every hour in comparison. All the important targets will be protected by air defence as well.
