- nova kakhovka dam has been blown up by ( russia/ukraine ) at 2:35 am .
- Both accusing each other
- It is supposed to slow down or halt ukranian offensive . There is also claim it ll impact 1st line of defence of Russia .
- Ukraine formation have begun evacuation from flooded island down stream
- Worst case scenario for water level was 13 meters by professional model , now its 17 meters . Water level behind the dam 30 yrs high
- Ukrainian authorities call on residents along the Dnipro River to evacuate after dam destruction
- Zaproizhzhia nuclear plant might face challenges for cooling .

Only Russia had access to the dam and they've been shelling people who are being evacuated.
This impacts Russia/Crimea for many years, it's unlikely to have been done by the Russians since the water level was very high due to the El Nino led rains anyway.
Rather, this makes the upper riparian regions more shallow, making it easier for the Ukrainians to attack from. Otoh, from the Kherson side it's impossible. And threatening the nuclear plant puts the Russians in a disadvantage because any accident will be blamed on them regardless.

Lol. Russians have been in control of dam you have any idea how much boom it takes to breach it? Just look at the first boom Russians used at the dam a year ago... it didn't breach.

The Kerch bridge is in a remote area out at sea, good luck trying to make your way across a narrow bridge on the Dnipro to plant explosives with the Russia's guns bearing down on you. Dams are not easy to destroy either, the amount of explosives required would be huge, bigger than the Kerch attack.
Likely revenge for Belgorod. Russia had already evacuated civilians from east Kherson, Ukraine still had its civilians in affected places. There is no advantage for Ukraine to do this. Crimea is downstream of the dam, so Russia could pickup the water supply from there. It's the areas north of the dam that will suffer water shortages, which are nearly all Ukrainian. It's Russia achieving a partial grain blockade another way.
