You need to familiarise yourself with international law. There's a place where it says that nothing stated within prevents a country taking necessary measures for self-defence. Of course a nation would need to justify that in court, i.e. democracy being invaded and annexed by a dictator. That said, the idea that Ukraine even could have done it is ridiculous and Russia's track record in this war and outstanding ICC arrest warrant suggests otherwise.

Now you've got the problem of moving it in a river, as opposed to a swimming pool with a nice smooth bottom. You will have to let it rise to get out of holes, and then rapidly let air back out to avoid it surfacing, then you have 5 tons falling, and you have to do that all the way for 1 mile and hope the enemy hasn't placed torpedo nets in front of the dam, and hasn't deployed sonar, and hasn't sent down divers or those trained dolphins or whatever.

Strange how Russia managed to protect Sevastopol from similar threats but not this dam.@randomradio

From the looks of it from various Russian sources ( Ukrainians are mostly silent ) , Russia is giving it back with interest . They have prepared their defence well . And inflicting damage with well laid out mines , heavy artillery fire , aviation , ATGM team . As per one Russian source , Ukriane so far trying to figure out the ammunition stock and when it runs out , the time taken to reload at various places . They are figuring out the right time to storm in with big numbers . Its early in the game but no doubt its going to be costly with respect to casualty on both man and material .

Another explosion in Berdyansk following the earlier blowing up of a collaborator. I suspect that with Russia's recent atrocities it won't be long before let Storm Shadow fully off the leash.

To be fair, the main attack hasn't begun though. What's happening now is what they are calling recon with force. We could see more in a day or two.

Overall, it's been a joke. The UAF was better off using those forces to make the Russian offensive more expensive.

From the outside it probably would have taken 5 tons in total placed at specific points. From inside it would have taken less. Russia is still alleging HIMARS and shelling, which is simply BS. It was easier for Russia to do, and they seem to have gained the most advantage. Crimean water issues mean nothing, the population in the occupied regions is just a sideshow to Russia, an excuse to justify the use of force to occupy Crimea and annex a land bridge to Sevastopol. They don't care about people, any people anywhere.

Oy vey. This is a heavy recon/probe attack on just about all fronts using Hummers, M113s, Mastiff-PPV, MRAPS and 2-4 LeoA4s for security, mine clearing/rolling and their thermal optics.

These lightweight forces are making gains.

It's going to be like Kherson where it took weeks to brake the lines but once Ukraine did Russia started running. They are estimating Ukraine may lose a whole brigade penetrating the Russian lines which is waaaay less what Russia suffered when they went on the offensive.

These are the folks that will make the way for the heavy hitters (Bradleys, CV-90s, Marders, Chally-2, Leo-2A5/6s, Strykers and oother heavy armor) and will suffer heavily. Losing M113s, MRAPS, Hummers and Martiffs in quantity is acceptable as they break the lines and can easily be replaced.

As per Dimitri Rogozin the real push is yet to begin . There are about 600 tanks of Ukraine around Orekhov , and there are more numbers of infantry fighting vehicles positioned . And this morning Ukraine with massive artillery strikes managed to occupy several positions of Russian troops in Orekhov- Tokmak direction . So there is more action to come . And if only Ukriane had better aviation support , things cld have been even more favourable to them . (info from From Russian sources )

If only the US/NATO from the moment Russia invaded agreed to give at least two squadrons of F-16's I think by now they'd be ready with proper training. Oh well hindsight.....

Because Russia is not some small country . Its a nuclear power . There ll always be opposite voices on where to draw the line . Giving fighter jet is not some common thing . Its a escalation . Even giving tank was not a common thing . When war started i remember , it was all about Javlin , NLAW , ammunition etc . All this started whn Ukraine started running out of its own resources in 1st phase of war . Now they are even giving long range air lunched missile . And wont be surprised if ATACMS starts arriving . I wonder what is Ukraine's capacity with respect to attack helicopters with fire and forget missiles like hellfire .

Those small units are being taken out way too quickly. Also, it's not small, the losses have been quite heavy. And don't get fooled by the Russians withdrawing from border towns, that's part of the plan.

But yeah, the main attack is yet to come. And unlike Kherson and Kharkiv, the Russians plan on defending. So it's gonna be a very bloody week.
