Future variants of Su-57 may also have such stealthy covers on nose IRST

So the turret-ball design needs to be replaced by such stealthy covers.

The external pod also needs to be replaced by EOTS
View attachment 22162

There is 1 more thing required - DIRCM, like on Su-57, very important.View attachment 22164

But these positions have been already occupied by IRST/EOTS in AMCA. So other positions for DIRCM can be explored like wing roots, like in F-16 AFTI. The spherical turret-ball can be replaced by angled aperture like in Sniper pod.View attachment 22165

The effectiveness of the DIRCM in the SU57 over IR homing missiles was demonstrated in a DCS fight simulation between a SU57 and a Eurofighter, Despite being available for helicopters, the DIRCM technology appears to be beneficial for combat jets as well. Good details(y)... Do we have any updates of DIRCM for AMCA?

-400 is the engine SH has been using since forever, and produces 97.8 kN.

What is this IADN talking about? I think he's confused the EPE with -400.

Far as I know, the EPE remains an offer from GE's side but so far there are no takers. SH Block-3 (and International Roadmap/ASH before that) was originally meant to have EPE but went ahead without it. I doubt it will be re-engined anytime soon.

If IAF wants EPE, they'll have to fund its development & testing.

EPE is completed. The new engine is simply called "Enhanced Engine".

The INS6 we chose is basically the EDE.

Poor reporting.

GE website.

Ordered for SH/Growler?

For the Americans? Yes. It's under flight testing, so small orders have been placed. Expected to be introduced in 2024, well before Indian deliveries begin.

The old -400 is a 7 stage engine, whereas EDE and EPE are 6 stage engines. The Indian version which says "INS6" indicates the number of stages.

For the AMCA, upgrading to the Enhanced Engine makes sense. We can even order more Mk1 versions if necessary. TEDBF will also get a massive boost to TWR (1.1 to 1.3 with AAMs), although it's not really necessary. The SH's TWR with the new engine and AAMs will be 1.1.

US offers to co-develop AMCA... 😂😂🤣🤣

It's weird how Americans want to undermine the French so regularly. First the AUKUS deal now this.

Only western nation except US to have 80-90% capabilities to ensure all supply chains and technology for defence is inhouse.
