The recent encounter with the SSG is still too recent and thus the awards might be given next year.
Who gave this information? Wular Lake and LC are quite a distance apart and MARCOS operate in essentially what is hinterland. All non-sense of SSG.

Everybody is guessing. Edited my post.
None would have said a word had he not crossed over. You have no idea how the forces work, do you?
The larger game plan was put on because of that fateful crossing. Anyways, water under the bridge.
I have served in 20sqn IAF and read the true war history. Infact I was the one in-charge of that book in 1991-1992.
Sir what if they are SSG(N) dressed as militants, quite possiblePure 100% non-sense. Figment of imagination.

Have put up a general alignment. As you look at the screenshot of map above, North is top of the picture. North-West of Wular lake somewhere upper left half is Macchil Sub-sector and upper right half is Gurez subsector. Wular is Bandipore Sector. If the picture is extended by another 2 inches, Sopore would be covered in a direction 9-10 o clock to center of Wular.
Rough alignment of LC is depicted by a red line. It is not 100% accurate but broadly - accurate.
Green tinge area indicates 1st tier's Area of responsibility - the LC units (usually Infantry units along with BSF) which are responsible for security and area domination. Yellow tinge indicates second tier units area of responsibility (Usually RR). Red Tinge is third tier and Blue is the true hinterland.
I think this should be enough. Notice the distance from LC. Only those odd balls who do cross somehow, will be engaged by the MARCOs. Otherwise, it is the local variety which is taken, Sopore and Lolab Valley is a hot bed which has a lot of local support for militancy, this is the area where frequent encounters take place.
then they are militants not SSG(N).Sir what if they are SSG(N) dressed as militants, quite possible
I am an ex naval aviator who did a tenure with IAF.You served both in IAF and as a naval aviator..?
He is projecting weakness, frustration and the more he sabre rattles (and that does not match with sat images) - that india is moving towards the border.. the more it helps India spread our narrative that they are rogue and spreading fear psychosis. We should shut down our embassy in Pakistan... considering the venom Imran khan is spouting these days ..

The pathetic thing is with all these advantages of surprise, local superiority, jamming, better bvr the best the paf had to offer couldnt hit a single target and had to satisfy themselves with a 50 yr old mig21 in exchange for a f16.Shergills indeed.
If this was for example an airforce like the israelis we would have taken huge losses.
IAF has focused too much on helicopters this decade.
What is this incident? I did not hear about about.Possible. Not as impossible as North & South Korea unifying in this decade. But again, highly unlikely. They would have to be really lucky to penetrate this far, in the numbers being "reported". And Indian units be blind.
Knowing the terrain, the topography, the vegetation (or lack thereof), the demography (or lack thereof) and the surveillance grid in the region and its effectiveness, I shall say .... as likely as merger of the two Koreas tomorrow
Sorry, I know the area too well and who operates where.

But few days back you too said that some SSG infiltrated via Nepal or other routes to train and flare up militancy.Possible. Not as impossible as North & South Korea unifying in this decade. Sir your reply about action in URI sector is read by 'OSINT' account and he replaced India with Pakistan and declared victory from highly placed sourcesThere are reports of some having being placed to "support" an "indigenous" movement against Indian "occupation" when time comes. Different thing.
