It seems the order is for 200 missiles. With that kind of price tag, the number of targets this missile can be used against, will be rather limited. India has to develop a cheaper option ASAP.

It's impossible to put VL Brahmos inside any submarine we operate. It's a 3ton/28ft missile. It's too big and expensive. Can't be used everywhere.
I was pointing towards land based versions of Brahmos. For ship launched version the price is justified since the targets are of high value.
Then how come they show a sub launched version? we tested few times from a pontoon, maybe in future we will put it on a desi sub?
Indeed I chose the ~5 m USD price tag . Even if we admit to improved iterations 200 missiles for 2.5 b USD works out to 12.5 m USD . How exactly does an improved version of the missile go from 5 m to 12.5 m is beyond me . As per the news it’s 75 cr I.e. around 9 mil $. Few days back I came across another article which quoted the price as 8 mil. I agree there is no reasonable explanation why the price has jumped from 3 mil ( few years back) to 8-9 mil. But then anything can happen in India.
Could be IN is paying Russia for tech support in our SSN / SSBN program too .
It’s prohibitively expensive for any meaningful land attack. Except command and control centers, fixed radar stations etc I can’t think of too many targets which justify use of Brahmos.
From the other forum by @EagleEye: Nirbhay with russian engine. ITCM with manik engine. Nirbhay aka LR-LACM going under design change. Folded wing in lower part of nirbhay missle may move to centre. Warhead weight may also increase! Navy is hand-holding the program. Dont ask sauce!
Nirbhay is not equal to LR-LACM. Its a new missile derived from original TD program to fit the requirements for particular services. Thus redesign is evident.
