Tragic moments for India, and for all of Indians wherever they might be. Om Shanti.RIP for these soldiers.
How exactly are you blaming it on the helicopter? VIP choppers do have better seats that is the difference. None of the previous Mi-17 crashes were attributed to the helicopter itself. A serving officer does not need a VVIP chopper its mainly for Civil heads like PM, President etc.Flying IAF junks is a dangerous job.
Legacy of collective incompetence of all IAF chiefdoms.
They are so greedy that they can’t even let go those assets which comes under the domain of other services, even though they are unable to maintain them.
Everybody knew that these Mi71s are not suitable for VIP duty, still the political and military bureaucracy paralysed the whole VVIP Chopper procurement process.
And what’s more painful is those same AW Choppers are standing on Tarmac at Hindan airbase is almost flyaway condition.
It’s not just about the plush interiors, but various redundancies and safety features that they have and this heli lacks. How exactly are you blaming it on the helicopter? Would add. IAF, Indian army, Indian Navy top Brass are more and bigger VVIPs than political class as security of the nation is involved. Just as president of India or PM of India are VVIPs, these Top brass is too important for the security of the nation..It’s not just about the plush interiors, but various redundancies and safety features that they have and this heli lacks.
For example AW101 has three GE engines with triple redundancy and can land safely even on single engine.
This is just a pointless discussion. The cause of crash has not been determined and the enquiry report is never gonna be public. So, what's the point? From the reports, this heli is not even 10 years old and is russian built/directly imported. Mi 17 V5 is a state of the art heli and is used world over. Pretty good all around. Meanwhile, IAF keeps crashing every aircraft they get and their personnel(mid level officers) themselves joke about their training and safety standards. So, IAF themselves are not "dudh ke dhule".It’s not just about the plush interiors, but various redundancies and safety features that they have and this heli lacks.

As i said that's Civil VVIP choppers. Serving military officials use regular helicopters with some modifications. It’s not just about the plush interiors, but various redundancies and safety features that they have and this heli lacks.

I still believe ALH is much better design compared to Mi17. It also has reliable engine and better crash safety standards. As i said that's Civil VVIP choppers. Serving military officials use regular helicopters with some modifications.
Helicopter crashed due to bad weather.Flying IAF junks is a dangerous job.

He excluded almost majority of Mi17s in IAF inventory by mentioning V5 models.
A safer heli still (probably) should’ve helped pilots safely land it with minimum fatalities. ALH also had many crashes due to bad weather.Helicopter crashed due to bad weather.
Now they want some KAAAA helicopter to fill their pockets , If we are going for any human-rated aircraft go for western, American, or Indian, If it's missile tech I don't mind Russian technology.Flying IAF junks is a dangerous job.

We operate close to 200 V5s and 30 or so older versions. Number would be similar to ALH I think. He excluded almost majority of Mi17s in IAF inventory by mentioning V5 models.
If that so, why not compare V5 with Mk3 ?
