Cyber expert alleges India's 2014 general elections 'rigged'

How many of you all want to bet on this becoming the next movie by Congress once it comes into power? The script is ready.
I find all of this "expert" thing very doubtful. How the hell can a guy become expert when he says he can "Hack" machine made out of discreet logic chips with almost no software. EVM cannot be "hacked" because there is nothing to hack in them! They are just glorified calculators with counting ability. To hack them, you will need to modify all of them by changing their innards. Something like this will almost certainly will be found or leaked. It is a conspiracy too big and too risky to pull off.

The Funny part is he claims the friend who was supposed to get an evm machine from india so he can prove his theory disappeared.

Blow to Cong: SC asks Ahmed Patel to face trial in connection to Rajya Sabha win
The Supreme Court Thursday asked veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel to face trial in connection with his election to the Rajya Sabha in 2017 which has been challenged by his rival BJP candidate Balwantsinh Rajput.

The apex court declined to interfere with the October 26, 2018 order of the Gujarat High Court which had said that Rajput's allegations required a trial.

"Let the trial go on," said a bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice S K Kaul.Patel had challenged the high court order which had dismissed his plea questioning the maintainability of Rajput's election petition.

Rajput in his election petition had challenged the Election Commission's decision to invalidate the votes of the two rebel MLAs. Had these votes been counted, he would have defeated Patel, the BJP leader had contended. The apex court said it will hear Patel's plea next month. It allowed the parties to file additional documents in the matter.

In its order, the bench also said that "as contesting parties have appeared, no notice need be formally issued. List the matters for final disposal in the month of February, 2019. In the meantime, the High Court shall proceed with the trial of the Election Petition". Patel was declared the winner after the Election Commission invalidated the votes of rebel Congress MLAs Bholabhai Gohel and Raghavjee Patel, bringing down the number of votes needed for victory to 44 from 45.

In the election petition before the high court, Rajput also alleged that Patel had taken Congress MLAs to a resort in Bengaluru before the election which amounted to "bribing the voters".In October 2018, the high court for the second time declined to give relief to Patel. Earlier, April 20, it had rejected Patel's plea.

Patel moved the Supreme Court against the April 20, 2018 order, contending that the decision of the poll panel cannot be challenged by an election petition.

The apex court on September 26 asked the Gujarat High Court to decide afresh a plea of Patel challenging the maintainability of a petition filed by Rajput.

The High Court in October dismissed Patel's plea.

On Thursday, senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi along with advocate Devadutt Kamat appeared for Patel in the apex court.Senior advocates Maninder Singh and Satya Pal Jain represented Rajput and other respondents in the matter.

Even 2 is not required for such innovative ideas from congress

As long as there's an overt response to Pulwama, I'm still pretty confident of Modi returning; and as long as he returns, I don't think the possibility of privatization and large scale economic reform is dead, but it will be more piecemeal and slow paced than hoped/expected earlier. I do agree though, that the expectations (both in terms of magnitude and speed) were unrealistic, and Modi/BJP had their own role in creating those expectations in the first place.

The point Sharma makes about CM's bringing change compared to a PM is very valid too, which is why I'd like to see BJP and friendly parties both at State and Central level.

I think you're exaggerating the point of our response to Pulwama.

Hint - look at how close to elections was 26/11 enacted, the then GoI's response & the no of MP's they got in the forthcoming elections.

The chattering classes aka the middle class & above doesn't even make up a 100 million in our blessed land. The rest of our population is still dependent on the state for roti kapda makaan rozgaar sadak bijli paani chikitsa shiksha aur suraksha with suraksha being the last in the list of priorities.

If that's *really* what will determine their votes; then the current Government ought to unquestionably return with a thumping, landslide majority; because while India has seen plenty of Governments that paid lip service to the poor, and used the poor as a permanent votebank - eternally confined to poverty, unable to rise up and perpetually dependant on sops - this is the first Government I've seen that's seriously worked for them and delivered actual results.

But I'm afraid that level of voter may have other priorities such as which Party has the most representatives with the same last name as his (nevermind that they don't do shit for him), who promises him impossible loan waivers that will never be delivered and who offers the most cash/country liquor for his vote.

BJP-Sena deal done. #Maharashtra now in a firm stance for NDA.
Don't be too happy. This combine will not sweep the state like last time. In all probability, it's going to be a 4 way split of vote share between the major parties with the SS coming of as the worst of the lot in terms of the MP's elected.

Congress calling on CAG to recuse himself from probing Rafale deal shows its callous disregard for institutions - Firstpost

Rahul Gandhi is a budding dictator. He only tolerates due process as long as it serves his interests, when it doesn't then the institutions are faulty. Imagine what this would mean if he were in power: you can say goodbye to an independent justice, there would be political officers present to make sure the judges rule in favor of the Party every time. Votes, too, would be "corrected" to make sure nobody commits "fraud" by not voting for Rahul. This power-hungry despot in the making is the biggest threat to India's democracy.

The entire opposition in India is cursing Pakistan in their hearts for the Pulwama attack. They know that if Modi strikes Pakistan and dismembers it, he will rule for next ten years. And all these guys will be wiped out like Pakistan.
