Arya samaj has been doing "ghar wapsi" before 1947.
ISKON has been converting people into hindus for a long time now.
VHP is now doing Ghar wapsi.
End of the day, if one believes in dharma, reincarnation and karma, then one is a Hindu.
Ya but Arya Samaj is relatively new. Many do not even consider them mainstream.
ISKON at least here in Pune is seen as a western-centric cult, forget mainstream.
Ghar Wapsi is reversion. In effect, someone of Indian origin who is not currently a Hindu, being now invested into Hinduism.
I've read about older times when warring tribes were absorbed into Hinduism to replace the original Vedic Kshatriyas who had been suppressed and marginalized and finally destroyed/disbanded as a caste by the Brahmins.
Now these were definitely not Indic bloodlines. But I guess over 2000 odd years they've inter bred and now are considered Indic. I'm referring to the Agni Kul Rajputs.
So are there clear laws about bloodlines in Hinduism, or can anybody become a Hindu.
And if the latter (I'm guessing, by your last statement), how? Are there some ancient references and rituals prescribed for the same?
And how are they then fit into the current existing structure in terms of caste?
Cheers, Doc
Arya Samaj was stared in 1875 and that is pretty old to me. They are Vedic hindus practicing vedic principles.
ISKON is pretty mainstream and has more than 300 centers in India. It has more than 10 million followers in India.
I have never heard of any Waring tribes being absorbed into Hinduism. Same with Agni Kul Rajputs.
There are clear bloodlines in Jathi and sometimes in Gotra, but not in Hinduism.
Once can become a Hindu, but one cannot claim a Jathi lineage. However, one can be adopted into a specific gotra by initiation. This happens during his upanayana samskara / gayatri deeksha by his guru. His guru's gotra becomes his gotra.
Existing system of castes only refer to their Jathi's. Not to their Gotra.
So anyone who is India gets converted, will continue to be in his same jathi.
My point was in comparison to how old Hinduism was, 1875 and 1966 are hardly old. The Rajneesh movement is probably as old as the Hare Krishna movement.
Anyways, this is a pure religious discussion so let's stop it. Thanks for your efforts in answering. Appreciated.
Cheers, Doc
There was a time not long back when muslims in old city would support pakistan in ind vs pak cricket match and raise the pak flag and celebrate if they win. Those acts have reduced of late and are no where to be seen now. What they think doesnt matter today they are limited to just 7 mla seats cornered in ths old city while they rest if hyderabad is ever expanding.Go and talk to AIMIM members. They do believe that Hyderabad should not have joined India. Wait. You are from Hyderabad, right?? You should already know this.
RaGa is what you get when you mix and breed Muslim+Parsi+Italian blood. They all have history of inbreeding.
