LCA Tejas Mk1 & Mk1A - News and discussions

We already have 20+ samples in sulur
Pilots are getting trained..
Tactics are getting formulated in Aste.. Mk1A getting planned with private players...

Why can't we double the orders,
Get the defense production in war mode?
160 mk1A at the rate of 40/ year is possible right?

The Only problem with MK 1 A is the limited loiter time because of limited internal fuel capacity

This is why we are going for additional
MIG 29s

We need more planes for CAPs

As per HVT tejas range is more or less equal to Gripen C/D.

With big wings it's tailor made for high altitude.

I not saying to NOT buy mig 29 , but
To Put our defense production under challenge for war time measures and see how it performs.

We can keep tejas elsewhere too relieving other fighter jets..

For LCA IAF definitely planning for good BVR package as it's going to be in frontline very soon, may be with Derby ER.

The aircraft is not suitable for a larger fleet than already ordered. Even the current orders were given grudgingly due to the the bad fleet situation and the delay in the Mk2 program.

it's sp 14
It is indeed SP-14. Now wasn't it suppose to be IOC standard. So how come it's carrying Derby BVR?
Surprise surprise. If it is carrying Derby BVR it only means that all IOC standard LCAs have been upgraded with FOC standard software and are now FOC standard except for external refueling probe...☺

This is a pretty good achievement. I hope it finds its way into Mk1A.
Yes. Just imagine the whole fighter plane and for that matter even commercial planes are controlled by actuators driving control surfaces and so they need to be very reliable and if ADA, DRDO find Godrej actuators good enough then it also opens export market. Also with this I suppose all the things for aero industry are now in place except for a reliable turbofan engine and ejection seat, which is good enough for supporting future fully Indian fighter planes..☺

A lot of other critical sub systems need indigenisation as well namely the carbon composites which we important, chips that power the computers, various sub components of the GaA radar, etc are some of the few things that come to the mind first up.

Having said that we've made huge progress in indigenising various critical sub components over the past 2 decades which is commendable & extremely gratifying to know. Hopefully in the coming decade, we'd master what we haven't been able to do all these years.
