LCA Tejas Mk1 & Mk1A - News and discussions

Really,
Hemi Anechoic chamber is your bench mark, HAL has two of them a new one that was done couple of years ago in banglore and one in koraput. Wind tunnels that you are talking about, guess who built them for ADA? Just wondering do you now how far field testing is conducted and where it is conducted, both of the diffraction rigs sit in a HAL hangar.

It would be disastrous to continue all critical research managed exclusively by nincompoops of MoD headed by a freaking Television Spokesperson, who wouldn't know the difference between AAM and a mango. And same goes for all of the under-secretaries of MoD who are renowned for art of not doing any thing. Given ADA's horrible track record, if what you say is true, LCA MK2 and AMCA both will have substantial delays.

The Billion Dollar Question is
Will ADA / DRDO work with HAL

HAL right now with all the adverse media coverage might not really cooperate with
Any body , they are sulking badly

DRDO has more credibility than HAL

HAL is GoI resource, it's up to this government whether it want's to strengthen it, or run it to the ground. With TV Spokesperson in command of MoD, I don't see much hope for defense establishment for India anyways. Same goes for CSL and MDL, in two years, Phase II funds for IAC has not been released.

Till date just 12 SP models. We must be doing something wrong somewhere. Not to mention the damn FOC.

F-16 at its peak had a production rate of 30 per month! And this was '87.

dont forget - after 2019 maybe HAL will make chappal and phones as well along with 1 LCA per 4 months.

Still looking forward for your HAL article, any chance of completing it, or did i miss it?

Is there any 4th gen plane which has Fly by wire, EW, AESA, BVR, WVR, quartz radome, Software defined radio, all glass cockpit, all together?? If not then why IAF wants all this before FOC of tejas???

Because thats what they can get if they buy off the shelf, Indian PSU's will have to keep up, sort of atone for delays caused by their own mismanagement.

1. AESA is not part of FOC
2. IAF has BVR capability since Kargil, nearly 20 years ago, so that's not really much to ask
3. even upgraded Mig 29, or Mirage 2000 offer these capabilities and more
4. If LCA would have got FOC as planned, it would had been in service for 6 to 10 years by now and would get AESA radar as an upgrade as well, because the original radar and EW capabilities are outdated now (see Jaguar Darin 3, or coming Su 30 MKI upgrades)

So IAF is not asking anything special from LCA, it's just the looooong delay in the development, that makes IOC versions outdated already and FOC at least multi role capable, but not modern anymore.

It's all doable. Everything is present in 4.5th gen aircraft.
