LOC Flare up: Related news and Discussions

Well yes it is different for you when Arnab Gowswami shouts on the top of his voice on public news channel "Pakistanis must die" after every gun battle in Kashmir.
What about that plan of Pindi boys to strap vests on all Shias who're down with the Chinese virus after ziarat in Qom & send them across the border to achieve 72 hoors? Or are you waiting til it spreads in your Punjab so that JeM & LeT can do the needful ?

Nope. Command problem. The enemy was identified and classified by live drone footage. It was easily possible to call in a drone strike, an airstrike, or a precision air burst artillery strike, or even bracket the area with 120mm mortar. Nearly all would have done the trick.

Instead command in it's infinite wisdom eschews such instruments of force because you know z hearts and minds. Apparently the use of such systems will turn the population hostile. Yes you read that right. Go figure.

Actually the problem begins way before. We have amongst the worst senior officers corps in the world, and by a large margin, the consequence of having a selection and training regimen designed to shortlist and build up junior officers. We have great Lts, Captains, Majors. Even colonels. But at Brigadier and above, baring a hand full, we fail to produce effective commanders.

Most of these commanders lack the flexibility, innovativeness and decisiveness that a large formation commander requires to be successful. So much so that when someone is actually decent on the job he inevitably becomes famous. General Sunderji for example. Gen. Vipin Rawat is another. Nothing extraordinary about them. Just.decent commanders who understands what large formation command means.
Nobody teaches the rest that. Staff college, NDC, higher command colleges are still based on learning the bureaucracy..by the book. Our senior commanders are best compared to the British Army of WW2. The British managed to change, learning from their experiences facing the vastly superior German office corps. Now the Indian army is more british than the British themselves. Incompetent at nearly everything except bureaucracy.

This is also why you find those weird articles by ex officers like Praveen Sahwney and Lt. gen . HS Panag. He wouldn't have made brigadier in a NaTO standard army or even the Russian army. The idea of an Indian initiative is anathema to them, they can't imagine it because they were never competent enough to think independently.

Sir , the only big issue i see in your post is our higher command colleges not producing good quality senior officers , is there anything done to fix this in the ongoing military reforms ?

They are half deep in the ice...probably the reason why para sf were sent. A lot of people here/twitter/dfi etc have so quickly jumped to conclusions that just looks so moronic. Some have even speculated that these guys didn't know how to keep adequate spacing among themselves and that's why they got killed. I mean, the army may not be perfect but they know better than keyboard warriors. An entire swath of ice sheet collapsed and went down hill, and 3 guys ended up just 2 mtr away from the terrorists while being disoriented. The other 2 jumped into the fight. These men did the job even after being struck by a really powerful bolt of bad luck. I salute them!!!!

And to the pakistani trying to troll, have you ever even tried to read up on your countries history?
@safriz
At least 20 personnel of the Pakistan Army Special Services Group (SSG) were killed and dozens others sustained injures in a blast at the Officers’ Mess of the sensitive cantonment area of Tarbela-Ghazi on Thursday evening.
The mighty SSG had their fukcin mess blown apart!!!

Number of martyred troops can’t be disclosed, Senate told
After a minister’s hesitation to share the number of Pakistani troops who laid down their lives in recent incidents of Indian firing from across the Line of Control (LoC), Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Tuesday held that no information could be withheld from parliament.
We do not want our enemy to know how many soldiers laid down their lives

Those 5 will be replaced by same men like them.

Its not luck, simple useless tactics. Who deploys Para that too in olive green in white snow. ? Sala 1.5 km se sniper thok dega

We all want the same thing. But there must be factors holding the govt. back

Govt of India doesnt want to raise the cost of operations on tangos. So no air strike. Life is worthless in India due to high population. If 5 down there are 10 ready to join para sf as of now, no lack of man power.

arrey wah mere shero, banda nikal ke le gaye tumhari naak k niche se geedad, the way the stole the equipment from INS Vikrant, :p kal koi intelligence wala uth jayega :ROFLMAO:

Kupwara operation was conducted in extremely challenging conditions: Lt Gen Raju
Kupwara operation was conducted in extremely challenging conditions: Lt Gen BS Raju -

Srinagar: The operation in Rangdouri Behak along the line of control in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was conducted over the past five days and was concluded with the killing of all the five militants.
According to Wire Service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), 15 Corps commander Lt Gen BS(bull sh*t) Raju told a selected group of reporters that the operation in Rangdouri Behak was conducted in extremely challenging conditions. He said the five militants killed in the operation had infiltrated from Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK).
so they were expecting level one mario game and easy hunt? My God!
The operation was completed in spite of the very challenging terrain and conditions, “the infiltration happened on 1st of the April early in the morning and this particular bid was immediately detected by Battalion deployed along the line of control (LOC) who as per standing operating procedure (SOP) immortality gave a chase”.

So it was immediately detected and just like on 27th feb 2019, they chased them. And realized omg they are tangos and waited for another 3-4 days on chasing them.

The battalion in spite of extremely challenging conditions was able to make contact with the militants at approximately 1300 hours (1 PM) and in the brief contact the militants abandoned their heavy loads and were able to go down deep in gorge, he said.

He said by late evening the formation responsible for that particular area was able to successfully isolate the militants in the north along the line of control (LOC) and in the south along the Shamshuddin range.

Over the next two days, the formation conducted multiple helicopter and UAV, to get better situation awareness, they also isolated the militants from both east and the west, thereby completely isolating the militants, ” On the 4th of April by mid day based on the information available with us on the lightly location of the militants, Special Forces were dropped in the close vicinity by the helicopters, as this column (SF) was approaching the target area on of the militants who probably was started to return back towards the LOC and who ran straight Into the stopes of LOC Battalion and he was killed immediately”, he said.

He said the special forces who were approaching the target area were travelling/ Trekking the extremely challenging and terrain in very high snow levels and over extreme steep slopes, this particular Column (SF) was able to make contact with the militants late in the evening.

Lt Gen furthermore said in the ensuing fire fight that took place over the next 5 to 6 hours the special forces managed to kill the balance of four militants, in this particular operation we were able to recover 5 AK 47 along with its arms and ammunition, 2 UBGLs , 2 Pistols, Satellite radio communication equipment, BHF equipment along with the large quantity of administrative stores.

Meanwhile, a special forces soldier who was part of the operation said it was heavily snowing and they were chest deep in the snow. “Militants were hiding in a deep gorge and it was a close contact battle. We found the body of subedar sir very close to one slain militant,” he said in a video message on twitter—(KNO)

So from the read I can guess that the idea was to nab them alive but the whole mission failed with 5 Para SF casualities.

I hear many Indian soldiers got killed in a gun battle with Kashmiri freedom fighters?
Pakistan lost 40,000 in last 15 years due to freedom fighters and terrorism inside pakistan. :ROFLMAO:

With the size of 4-5x in area, population and diversity i think we are managing pretty good. But thank you for the concern.

He's not wrong though. If the action was taken earlier we wouldn't have lost five of our best men. The whole operation seemed like a disaster from the start. The whole engagement took 6 hours after they were deployed near the mountains so they were already exhausted . And inspite of that they were successful in completing the operation even though they ended up losing their lives. If there more foresight among the higher brass we could have acted earlier or waited for them to come out of the mountains and maintained surveillance in that region why waste men when you know everything is against them the weather , geography and they are blind.

I am sorry for saying this but the blame for such casualties lies in the Inter Unit Rivalry

If One Para SF unit has brought "Trophies " Or "Footballs " ; others ALSO have to MEASURE UP

We could have waited for them to move till a more favourable time
