Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning and F-22 'Raptor' : News & Discussion

The Swiss are fully aware. Wait and see.

If the US is holding firm on a no-Huawei line for the F-35, “The UAE will have to follow suit of UK in giving up the Huawei 5G contract with China in favor of joining the F-35 club for national security purposes,” said Kuwaiti defense expert Ali Al Hashim.

The UK’s mobile providers are being banned from buying new Huawei 5G equipment after Dec. 31, and they must also remove all the Chinese firm’s 5G kit from their networks by 2027.
How exactly is Huawei connected to the sale of the JSF here? The US is spinning it that way. The crux of the matter here is Israel's security concerns.

Oh please. Your french plane came in third with the Swiss and didn't even make the cut for Finns. But id has

But the Rafale has omnirole binoculars. How could it lose?

Operation Chammal: Embedding with A Combat Crew
During this time, the pilot carefully manages the flight of his aircraft in an airspace occupied by the many other coalition aircraft. " During a close air support (CAS) mission, we are surrounded by many drones and other fighters," says the pilot. “You must be extremely vigilant at all altitudes.”

On the ground, the JTAC belonging to the Syrian democratic forces requests surveillance of a given zone. "He asks me to observe and describe an area of interest," explains the navigator. Thanks to the pair of binoculars, the Damocles pod (infrared imaging designator) and the OCAD (connected decision-making tool), the crew observes the area and see a vehicle driving up from the south. It stops and positions itself. On board, three armed individuals, who are identified as enemy combatants. "Immediately, I describe the situation to the JTAC,” says the navigator, who positions a drone on the target.

A few minutes later, the firing order is given to neutralize these fighters who threaten a position of Syrian Democratic Forces. No more noise in the airplane, as the crew knows its procedures by heart. The navigator prepares his system while the pilot places the aircraft on the required flight path.

Coz the US insisted .
Make up your mind. You said the 5g ban or no F-35 was because of Israel security. I was wondering how Israeli security is affected and as you said insisting the UK ban the 5g too. By the way the F-35 is still offered to the UAE if they agree with the 5g ban.

Yes . The US insisted that UK & Israel ban Huawei but did you ever see the US threatening these nations witholding sales of the JSF if they didn't comply.

Cut to Switzerland . @A Person has detailed Swiss involvement with China which as any dunce will tell you is much more deeper than what the UAE shares with China. Pls scroll up to your weak reasoning to that post . Did the US ever state that they wouldn't sell the JSF to the Swiss even if they were selected if the Swiss didn't suspend their deals with the Chinese ?

No. For good reason . The Swiss would in all probability boot the US out of the tender.

The sale of the JSF to the UAE has been witheld only because of Israeli opposition. Blinken was forced to admit to it too citing US aims to preserve Israeli primacy in the ME .

This piqued the UAE enough to conclude a deal with the French post haste who were quick to oblige as they had their own axe to grind with the US . Following the UAE move to suspend negotiations on acquiring the JSF , the US seeing a potential loss of business is now forced to reconcile with the UAE. How exactly will this rapprochement come about remains to be seen !

In the meanwhile at least the JSF is off the table. UAE has an alternative & the US has succeeded in preserving Israeli primacy in air warfare in the ME.

Which part of all this murky politics didn't you understand ?

This was a crash which I just an't figure out. How can so many people who do pre flight inspection including the piot miss out on the intake covers still being in place
Sir i am yet to full understand what exactly went wrong there. It's speculated (not if it's confirmed already) that foreign object got sucked and blocked the airflow. But was it attached to aircraft during visual inspection or was it removed but left on the runway erroneously and got sucked when engine went on. Either way British lost a fifth generation jet which did cost them dearly not only in jets number strength but also phycologically. However it must be a learning ladder for them.

And he knocked out the F-35 in the UAE :ROFLMAO:
Was there a competition in UAE, officially or even unofficially?
I thought it was a bit strong, and deleted it, you replied in the mean time. We both know the US won't sell to the UAE till they get rid of china.
I somehow disagree. I thought F35 deal to UAE was linked with Abraham accords success.

From an outsider perspective, the current administration top leadership statements nowhere imply the rejection of F35 to UAE, not even asking about official rejection of F35 by US government/defence military complex.

Yes, but when the Emiratis compared the price the US gave the Finns to the price they were offered, they were offended that they were being taken for fools. :ROFLMAO:

UAE officials are shrewd businessmen unlike other Arab States and will extract bang for every buck they will spent.

They will get upgraded F35 in due time and with greater autonomy and price package than US is willing to give them right now. It’s how they got Best versions of both F16 and Mirages. They probably also want to integrate their own weapons, they have been developing locally.

It was necessary but not sufficient.
Could be, couldn't be. Nothing to establish currently.

Again it's a speculation and you know it as well. What was offered to UAE, only they would be aware of it, not the French, right? Hence applying Rafale costing with F35 in given scenario will seem illogical from an outsider perspective.

5G or F35?The U.S. poses multiple-choice questions to the UAE, but it causes the Middle East to turn its attention to China

2021-12-21 21:29 HKT

The UAE has suspended negotiations on a package of arms sales with the United States, which includes an order for 50 F-35s.
As a reliable ally of the United States in the Middle East, why is the UAE so abnormal? It even directly pushed down the F-35 fighter's gold order, which is an unattainable opportunity for many countries.
In fact, in such a situation, the responsible party is not in the UAE, but forced by the United States!

First, the issue of arms sales should not have been involved in politicization and instrumentalization, and the United States intends to use these methods to require the Arab side to comply with some weird requirements that have nothing to do with arms sales.

For example, the United States has often threatened the UAE with the Yemen issue, followed by the Chinese threat and the 5G issue, in order to put pressure on the UAE as a precondition for arms sales.

Take this batch of F-35 orders as an example. The United States first asked the UAE to lower the level of strategic cooperation with China on the grounds of "protecting fighter jets from leaks by Chinese spies."

Immediately afterwards, the United States made a strong proposal to require the UAE to dismantle domestic 5G signal equipment before the delivery of the first batch of fighter jets, that is, within 4 years.

What is even more annoying is that to remove these equipment, the United States will neither pay nor provide equipment to replace it. Just a word of mouth is to let the UAE build a 5G local area network.

In this way, it is like "the clay figurines all have three points of anger." In the face of the long-term unreasonable pressure from the United States, even if the UAE shows weakness, these conditions are flatly unacceptable!

What's more, everyone knows the purpose of China's 5G network, especially the United States. China has no intention to steal any secrets. The reasons given by the United States are pure nonsense!

As for the goal of this move by the United States, let's make a simple analysis. It is certainly not easy!

1. With the breakdown of the US technology monopoly over China, China's 5G technology, new energy, artificial intelligence and other fields have achieved new developments all over the world.

The United States believed that it could no longer contain China technically, so it almost began a series of political measures to force its allies to stop using scientific and technological measures against China.

Attempt to weaken China's technological advantages from the entire ally system!

2. Since the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, the United States has greatly weakened its control in the Middle East, and there have been many blank areas. However, it does not want the Middle East to hand over to China and Russia. The United States has always maintained a state of "wish to go and stay". .

In addition, the UAE is China's second largest trading partner and largest exporter in the Middle East, and the United States is even more worried.

As a result, the United States has arbitrarily turned the Middle East into a new battlefield for the Sino-US game, and will not take into account the interests of regional allies in the slightest.

The UAE has naturally become the first target of the U.S. operation, and a multiple-choice question posed to the UAE-is it 5G or F-35?

The above two purposes both exposed the phenomenon that the United States is now turning to attack its allies for its own benefit, indicating that it is already difficult for the United States to settle in the Middle East!

Similarly, this time the UAE categorically rejected the unreasonable demands of the United States, which marked a breakdown in the relationship between the U.S. and Arab allies. It also shows that the current Middle Eastern countries have a sober concept and are unwilling to become the victims of major powers, and are unwilling to stand on the sidelines between China and the United States. !

Needless to say, in this turmoil, we have clearly seen the new policy stance of the Middle East countries:

one. Pay attention to the diversification of diplomatic strategy, which is the survival guide for small countries.

two. Discovering the true nature of the United States is no longer a reliable ally.

Three. With alternative options, turn your attention to China.

Speaking of it, the United States is undoubtedly "lifting a rock and hitting itself in the foot" when the United States has caused this turmoil. Not only has it failed to produce results, it has further pushed the Middle East into the embrace of China.

The U.S. must be very surprised when it sees the UAE's counter-strike. It has no practical measures for a while, and obviously has not realized the seriousness of the problem.

Taking this opportunity, China can immediately start liaison with the Middle East region and further consolidate the ties between the two places. By then, we can see the bitter face of the United States.

In fact these last UK carriers are more another US ones than anything else : they carry 10 9 english F35 ad 20 US marine ones.

The FCAS with the Germans is a very bad idea.
I think, it will be like with the rafale, France wil do it alone. Dassault CEO said they worked for a "100% french" alternative if it fail with the germans. This is the same situation with the MGBT.
MGBT? Modest Gays Bisexuals and Transvestites? Is that the 100% French alternative?
UK is just a new american state.
Says the EU state of France. This is the crazy think here. You have to pay the EU money every year and do what they say, yet you accuse the UK of belonging to the US, even though we pay them nothing and have completely independent law-making and government.
