US shoots down unknown 'high-altitude object' over Alaska, White House says
11 Feb 2023 Ben Gittleson

"It was "cylindrical" and "silver-ish grey," ABC's Martha Raddatz was told.

The White House said Friday that an unknown "high-altitude object" had been shot down over the waters off Alaska. President Joe Biden ordered the shootdown, spokesman John Kirby said, adding that the origin of the object has yet to be determined. Responding to reporters' shouted questions about the shootdown Friday afternoon outside the White House, Biden called the operation a "success."

It comes just days after the U.S. shot down a Chinese surveillance balloon last Saturday, following a political firestorm. Kirby said the object was about the size of a small car and was at flying about 40,000 feet. He said because it posed a reasonable threat to the safety of civilian flight, that out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of the Pentagon, Biden ordered the military to down the object.

ABC News Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz first reported that when fighters were scrambled, the pilots did visuals, got images and said there was no sign the object had propulsion. It was described as "cylindrical and silver-ish gray" and seemed to be floating, a U.S. official said. Asked if was "balloon-like," the official said, "All I say is that it wasn't 'flying' with any sort of propulsion, so if that is 'balloon-like' well -- we just don't have enough at this point." "It came in, inside our territorial waters, those waters right now are frozen, but inside territorial airspace and over territorial waters. Fighter aircraft assigned to U.S. Northern Command took down the object within the last hour," Kirby said. "We don't know who owns this object," he said.

The object came to U.S. attention Thursday evening, Kirby said. "It did not appear to have maneuverability capability, he said. "It was virtually at the whim of the wind." The object was traveling "northeasterly across Alaska" and two F-35 fighters were sent up to identify it last night, [collecting intel via sensors] the Pentagon said later Friday evening.

On Friday, two F-22’s from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson tracked it and one of them fired the AIM-9X sidewinder missile near the location of Deadhorse, Alaska which is right on Prudhoe Bay, according to the Pentagon.

It's times like these that it is good to know India and the rest of the powers here on Earth will have the U.S back when "they" come here asking questions about what happen to their diplomat that came here to make first contact. As earthlings we must stand as one and not backstab each other by being a nark on who may have accidently shot down their envoy.

Earthling blood is thicker than water, am I right youz guys?

Are you seriously suggesting some extra terrestrial intelligent life wanted to establish contact with us earthings ? In that case it speaks volumes of that alien's intelligence it chose the US of A. But correct me if I'm wrong , don't they travel in ships resembling triangles which are black ?

On topic why's it everytime you have a flying object which isn't a plane or a drone you deploy the Raptors to hunt it down ? Is that why you developed those Raptors ? Why can't you deploy the Falcons or Eagles or Hornets or even your wonderjet the Lightnings ? @Innominate

It will be incredible if there's tech that allows drifting in the atmosphere, like a ship drifts at sea.

Worse comes to worst, we can throw the Canadians under the bus.

Wow, while I managed to pinpoint the exact ailment, ChatGPT was right on the symptoms of people with Dark Triad traits. It's so accurate.

In any case, the first Chinese manufactured jet was the J-5, which is a modified Mig-15. The Chinese don't consider it their first gen because they didn't DEVELOP it.

And ChatGPT says I was right in recommending therapy:
  1. Don't enable their behavior: Avoid reinforcing or enabling any negative or harmful behavior they may be exhibiting.
  2. Encourage professional help: If the person is open to it, encourage them to seek professional help from a mental health professional.

But symptoms:

1. Disrespect or lack of admiration: People with Narcissistic tendencies may become angry if they feel disrespected or not admired for their accomplishments or abilities.
2. Being outsmarted or manipulated: People with Machiavellian tendencies may become angry if they feel someone has outsmarted them or manipulated them in some way.

However, people with Dark Triad traits are characterized by a lack of empathy, impulsivity, and a disregard for the well-being of others. As a result, they may be less likely to respond to third-party descriptions of themselves or their behavior in a constructive or empathetic manner, and may instead react with defensiveness or anger.

The size of that angry post explains the above.

However, if you find yourself in a situation where you need to interact with someone who has Dark Triad traits, here are some behaviors that may trigger their anger:
- Questioning their intelligence or competence
- Publicly criticizing or undermining their reputation
- Exposing their lies or manipulations

People with Dark Triad traits can exhibit a range of behaviors online, much like they do in person. They may use the anonymity and distance provided by the internet to engage in manipulative or exploitative behaviors, such as spreading rumors or playing games to control others. They may also engage in online harassment, cyberbullying, or other forms of online aggression. Additionally, people with Dark Triad traits may use the internet to enhance their sense of power or control by seeking out attention, admiration, or validation through social media, online forums, or other platforms.

Some possible manifestations of childishness in individuals with Dark Triad traits over the internet could include:

  • Attention-seeking behavior: They may act in ways designed to get attention or validation, even if that behavior is immature or inappropriate.
  • Manipulative behavior: They may use underhanded tactics to get what they want, such as lying, playing victim, or pitting people against each other.
So accurate...

Damn, my friend was right, I should have become a psychologist. I had no idea I had the ability to identify someone's psyche over the internet, of all places.

From no MiG-15 being operated hence no 1st Gen FA in China to MiG-15 being operated under a different moniker to the first Chinese FA being manufactured being the J-5 which is supposedly a MiG-15.

Well here's news for Resident Storyteller :

ProductionEdit

SB Lim-2 of the Polish Air Force
The USSR built 1344 MiG-15, 8352 MiG-15bis and 3434 two-seaters. It was also built under license in Czechoslovakia as the S-102 (MiG-15, 821 aircraft), S-103 (MiG-15bis, 620 aircraft) and CS-102 (MiG-15UTI, 2012 aircraft) and Poland as the Lim-1 (MiG-15, 227 aircraft) and Lim-2 (MiG-15bis, 500 aircraft). No two-seaters have been built in Poland as such – the SB Lim-1 and SB Lim-2 variants were remanufactured from hundreds of Polish-, Czech- and Soviet-built single-seaters.

In the early 1950s, the Soviet Union delivered hundreds of MiG-15s to China, where they received the designation J-2. The Soviets also sent almost a thousand MiG-15 engineers and specialists to China, where they assisted China's Shenyang Aircraft Factory in building the MiG-15UTI trainer (designated JJ-2). China never produced a single-seat fighter version, only the two-seat JJ-2.[84] The number of JJ-2s built remains unknown and the estimates vary between 120 and 500 aircraft.

The designation "J-4" is unclear; some sources claim Western observers mistakenly labelled China's MiG-15bis a "J-4", while the PLAAF never used the "J-4" designation. Others claim "J-4" is used for MiG-17F, while "J-5" is used for MiG-17PF.[85] Another source claims the PLAAF used "J-4" for Soviet-built MiG-17A, which were quickly replaced by license-built MiG-17Fs (J-5s).

However this isn't unexpected by RST, it's the same old MO of ceding ground while appearing to hold it & shifting goalposts when things don't work in his favour .

Then the other guy gets called names like having narcissistic Machiavellian personality disorder tendencies with the tactics of a 16 yr old high school girl. 🤣 Boy o boy, talk about va febrile imagination..

Seems story teller has a lot of experience with underages kids. Well, all the best to him. If he gets caught in the act, that's 10 yrs in the slammer, no questions asked.

As far as the rest of his psycho babble with a chatbot AI goes, let's see :

As the above tweets make clear, anyone with cursory knowledge of how to manipulate chatbots can & will do it with hilarious results in the tweets put out there & in RST's self diagnosis out here. Apart from storytelling RST also has good prospects as a stand up. As a bonus he writes his own material.

I actually feel sorry now for reducing resident story teller to seeking solace & reinforcement of his viiews from AI based chatbots . If I knew he's going to get so hassled I'd have bugged someone else on Twitter.

From desperately scouring the net for all kinds of pop psychology to marrying his already pre determined diagnosis to it, like this gem here - (narcissistic Machiavellian personality disorder tendencies with the tactics of a 16 yr old high school girl. 🤣 ) , to approaching AI chatbots, to patting himself on the back (since no one will do it for him ) on self diagnosis & congratulating himself for being a wonderful psychologist if he were to adopt it as a profession , to then blaming the other party for all the afflictions he's displaying symptoms of since he started his diagnosis, manchild clearly has a low threshold when his BS masquerading as gyan is called out & starts flailing his arms about like someone drowning in fairly calm waters because he doesn't know how to swim.

Had he devoted even a fraction of this time to references from respected sources backing his various claims on the Chinese system of classification of their various FAs under different Generations or on apart from stealth what exactly characterizes the J-20s as 5th Gen according to the US system of assigning Generations to FAs & how potent or effective those systems are with a comparison if possible against it's peers, I'd have genuinely appreciated the attempt even if I didn't agree with it.

Alas! Instead we're subjected to his depravities. Anyway, I'd not comment on this topic anymore leaving manchild to have the final word & the satisfaction of it.

It means the world to him.

Apparently that Chinese balloon shot down by the Raptor was hovering over San Diego's naval & air facilities to gather intelligence.

They didn't find any.

Which is why it drifted further Midwest where it was eventually shot down over the Atlantic just outside the Carolina states.

this time F22 had nailed it. Shoot down an alien airships 😝
It's disturbing that F-22 and F-35 pilots don't know if it was a balloon. Every high altitude balloon that I've seen pop or explode pops the same so for these pilots and DOD to say, idunno, says it wasn't a balloon. I'm also wondering why they haven't release the radio coms from the shoot down when they shot down the chinamen balloon they quickly released the radio coms. Growling sidewinder even made a video from it.

F-15 pilots being more chill would have never shotdown the Alaskan UFO.
They didn't shoot down this UFO

The Rafale can't rely on itself to fight the F-35 though. It requires multiship, multistatic capabilities. If it's purely about single radar performance, then the MKI's new radar will have a 2-2.5 times advantage over the Rafale's radar. And it's still not enough because you have underestimated the F-35's RCS in your calculations.

GaN's other qualities are more important to deal with stealth targets. Like SNR and SNDR. And pulse compression is just software and processing, it will be taken care of in time. And the GaN's higher bias voltage resulting in a much higher bandwidth is also necessary for generating superior results when using pulse compression. One could argue a 34:1 ratio for GaN is better than a 100:1 ratio for GaAs with its ability to reduce distortion and suppress noise while delivering greater power.

But what was more important for the Rafale was the GaN upgrade wasn't just a replacement for the RBE-2's front-end. It was supposed to be a whole new radar. So, after F3, F5 is of the most importance, with F6 and F7 being workhorses with relatively nominal capability boosts, and this seems to explain the delay in starting MRFA. There's really no point in getting more Rafales in its current configuration when we are up against the J-20. And this also explains why the IAF is so focused on ground-based SAMs.

A digital antenna is a normal evolution irrespective of the type of material used. The IAF and IN have been operating S band GaN with digital designs since 2011, via Israel. Although I personally haven't received confirmation, Uttam is very likely also digital. It's easy to make such an assumption because we know a lot of DRDO's older GaAs radars are also digital. It would explain why DRDO's claimed an RBE2 AESA equivalent performance with far lower number of TRMs for LCA Mk1A.

In any case, the Rafale's slower progress in avionics and its lack of equivalence with the F-35 when it comes to ground strike explains why Rafale has not been very successful in Europe, where air forces need ground strike more than air superiority, unlike India.

To try to find one's way through the F4 Standard, here is a comparative summary of the 3 AIR FAN files. I give it to you with the necessary caution:

Breaking: US F-22 fighter jet takes down unidentified 'high-altitude airborne object' flying over Canada

-The North American Aerospace Defense Command announced that it was monitoring a "high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada" on Saturday afternoon. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the flying object has been shot down.

NORAD issued a statement:
-Military aircraft are currently operating from Alaska and Canada in support of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) activities. NORAD confirms that we have positively identified a high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada. While we cannot discuss specifics related to these activities at this time, please note that NORAD conducts sustained, dispersed operations in the defense of North America through one or all three NORAD regions. NORAD is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America.

Trudeau wrote on Twitter: "I ordered the take down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace. @NORADCommand shot down the object over the Yukon. Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled, and a U.S. F-22 successfully fired at the object. I spoke with President Biden this afternoon. Canadian Forces will now recover and analyze the wreckage of the object. Thank you to NORAD for keeping the watch over North America."

There are yet to be reports identifying the "high-altitude airborne object," and whether it could be similar to the purported Chinese spy balloon that was shot down off the coast of South Carolina on Feb. 4 or the unidentified flying object roughly the size of a small car that was flying at an altitude of around 40,000 feet off that was downed in northeastern Alaska on Friday.

Wow Prime Minister metrosexual "ordered" F-22 to shoot it down... how manly and sexy of him.

Now we can really blame the Canucks.

Wow Prime Minister metrosexual "ordered" F-22 to shoot it down... how manly and sexy of him.
He isn't your type eh?

On topic, if this is China's work, they've not only upped their game to a different level they're taunting Irish Joe & you guys. I think you should pick up the gauntlet & reciprocate. More U-2 like flights over China. Let Xi & his poodles get their panties into a twist.

This is why critical thinking skills are necessary.

The Chinese skipped out on 1st gen because they didn't have a Me-262, Mi-15 and F-86 equivalent. Their 1st gen was a Mig-21 cousin, hence Western 2nd gen.

Really, can't do without critical thinking skills.

They didn't have a 1st gen Mig-15 equivalent. They only serially produced it.
The Chinese skipped out on 1st gen because they didn't have a Me-262, Mi-15 and F-86 equivalent.

Their first generation was the Mig-21 cousin called J-7.
Their 1st gen was a Mig-21 cousin, hence Western 2nd gen.

Do concentrate on what the statements in bold were sandwiched between. Hence, proved that critical thinking skills are necessary.

Also:
About that nonsensical post trying to absolve himself of responsibility.
The main thing to know of these kinds of people is that they entirely disregard others and have an unhealthy obsession with themselves.

Individuals with the damaging trio of traits are experts in the cycle of abuse and gaslighting or denying someone's authentic experience and story and making them question their own reality.

As stated before, people with the dark triad personality are pros at manipulating the facts and history for their own benefit. But over time, they are unable to sustain their perfect image.

(The Mig-15 example already proves that. The person in question has difficulty comprehending subtle nuances due to said personality disorder. The Chinese define their generations based on what they developed and not what they operated. If the poster was even slightly less ignorant, he would have known that. But now he is defending the indefensible by claiming I said they didn't operate the Mig-15 at all, which literally has nothing to do with the topic, because the Chinese do not consider the J-5 as their 1st gen, his understanding of this topic is simply stymied by his own lack of knowledge. Strawman arguments and red herring tactics at play by the poster here, proving his Machiavellian trait of manipulating the deceiving other readers, probably himself too.)

Again, someone who repeatedly lies, shows a lack of empathy or is aggressive to others to obtain their own goals may have one or more dark traits. (All three traits were demonstrated in just two obnoxiously long posts.)

Sure, we cannot totally disregard the possibility that people with the Dark Triad Personality may be able to change. However, the likelihood of this happening is pretty tiny and not worth the trouble.

It is essential to understand that the personality traits that make up the Dark Triad Personality are deeply ingrained in the person's psyche and nature, so they will automatically be highly resistant to any sort of chance for change.

If you identify someone who has the Dark Triad Personality, the best strategy is to quickly move away from them as much as possible.

He has an undeserved superiority-complex, his posts primarily are designed to manipulate and deceive (like the Mig-15 example, and numerous other such examples throughout the years), and he does so without realising it, and when pointed out, he goes on the defensive.

He's a 60-year-old attention-seeking manchild with Dark Triad traits. I won't be surprised if he has a Histronic disorder as well. (People with the disorder tend to behave dramatically, rely on other people’s approval to bolster their self-esteem, and have an “overwhelming desire to be noticed.” But... this disorder is a serious one, and the label shouldn’t be used unless a mental health expert who has evaluated you and performed certain diagnostic tests confirms it.)

Hence the recommendation for therapy. It's not normal for a 60-year-old to be behaving like a child on the internet.

And all of this doesn't even consider the fact that he literally stalks the members of this board by their posting habits from their profiles. That's probably a whole 'nother disorder. And his own posts are largely what you would find in common with trolls in Youtube comments.

The drone was probably broadcasting that, for an alien Animal Planet. Damn, it would be great if the feed was live when it was shot down.

If anyone can make sense of this statement he receives a complimentary Johnny Walker Black Label from me .

I've quoted sources from as diverse as Wikipedia to a Chinese sponsored TT operating in Washington whose bread & butter it is to analyse & explain the Chinese position to the world who're claiming unambiguously that the Chinese decided Generations based on the year & decade of their deployment ( & local manufacturing ) beginning with the yr 1950 & the rest of the decade followed by the 1960's where they license produced their 1st Gen J-5 & J-6 based on the MiG -17 & MiG-19 respectively labeling them their 1st Generation followed by the J-7 which came in the 1970's & 80's which was their 2nd Generation .

And what does resident storyteller have to quote in support of his stance - nothing , zero , shunya , nada , zilch except Trust me Bro , all along throughout all the posts on this topic here & I'm supposed to be the one with personality disorders here.

All along I was trying to be civil to a wannabe clown who morphs from being a self confessed ex DRDO worker possibly third lab assistant ( post since deleted ) who got sacked for being delusional , to someone who's consulted by fellow members to draft suggestions for proposed partnerships between India & France or was it some other country , to also being referenced by ex or serving Generals of the IA & analysts of reputed think tanks on matters strategic to someone who holds three perspectives on every R&D assignment in DRDO labs from that of the scientist to the end user to the lay person on the street whereas I'm supposed to be the one with Dark Triad personality & a superior complex along with using the tactics of 16 yr old school girls now in my 60's with histrionic disorders .🤣

Members openly admit to seeking him out not for facts but to feel good . I mean that's the kind of reputation he's cultivated.

He ought to check out Twitter by posting his views there & see how the amateur experts & ex scientists , ex servicemen there especially ex & current BRF members paint his backside with their foot marks but he's too smart a cookie to attempt something like that .

Man , this person is a fit case to be institutionalised , which very much looks like what hIs future is going to be .

I guess when contract negotiations begin for the Rafale M, we will know more about our own configuration.

The US seems to be making a play for the F-35.

I don't know if India has a JSE-like simulation environment to try it out properly. Only the F-35 B could take off from Vikrant.

I don't know how JSE will help us here. We are testing physical characteristics.

The F-35B can't be operated from either carrier, wingspan issue on the elevators.

Only the F-35C is realistic. It also has the new engine advantage.

It's a very high-risk option for us though. The US could also be aiming to get into the IAF instead.
