Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning and F-22 'Raptor' : News & Discussion

That doesn't mean they're not allies.

Even today, France is not part of NATO's Nuclear Planning Group. Whereas US allies in Europe need access to American nuclear weapons, which means access to American fighter aircraft.

It was obvious for Belgium to choose the F-35 due to the nuclear sharing agreement with the US. The same with Netherlands.

What about Denmark, Italy, Korea, Japan, Australia, Canada, Norway etc.? Why the Rafale need so many excuses?

Canada, Korea and Japan are basically American states.

Denmark and other Scandinavian countries also buy American, basically extension of American states.

Italy is part of the nuclear sharing. Germany, Italy, UK and Spain are obviously all-in on the Typhoon.

Turkey is into nuclear sharing, plus Turk, French relations are not good.

Dude, you sell all these countries a bullock cart with an American flag on it, they will buy it.

LOL
Italy, Japan, Australia : Dassault never made a single offer...
Canada : As is Korea, the politics said it will be a very fair competition, but it's not fair in fact (Korea). Even if you win, at the end you lose. Dassault has understand that very well in Canada and chose not to spend its time.

After all France is less than 1% of the world population, and 3.6% of the GDP. Dassault can only keep 5 to 10% of the market.

Dassault never attempted what it knew it could not achieve.

Britain is only 1% of global population but it has still sold more planes based on 33% share of Eurofighter and 10% share of F-35. Zero excuses needed.

F35 : Britain has nothing to say. It has just to suck the US dick and pray to have some work shares.

EF : 151 exported to SA, Oman, Koweit, Qatar, Austria. 33% of 151 is 50. Rafale export orders logs to 96. And the futur of Rafale export potential is far more brillant than EF one.

Bye bye my dear ;)

It has 10% share of all F-35 profits, because it provided 10% of the funding. 10% of ~3,000 is 300 for F-35s. 33% of 623-160 is 154 for Typhoons, with Germany and Italy set to order upgraded Typhoons to replace the Tornado ECR. So we have the equivalent of 454 exports and another 33% of ~200 in waiting. And you have 96.:ROFLMAO:

Let me guess, Spectra works so well that the sales are invisible.:poop:

A logical person wouldn't call those excuses. The US has security arrangements with every country in Asia that's going for the F-35, France doesn't.
A logical person would realise that after 1 or 2 excuses that being defended is inexcusable.

A logical person also wouldn't suggest that a French speaking country neighbouring France will have the most unbiased opinion, especially when France has offered shared airspace for training and Switzerland has no genuine defence needs.

It's the other way round. There are zero excuses to date.

Look at the Swiss deal. This will be the first country where the US is participating with the F-35 and is on equal footing with the others. Let's see what happens here.

They're all excuses. Country A is in NATO, country B sucks America's cock, country C didn't hold a bid, country D needs it for nuke delivery (like a Rafale can't drop a nuke).

Equal footing with a French-speaking country next door to France. That's not an equal footing. It's almost like Monaco having an air force and you saying that a competition there would be fair.

33% of 623 EF = 207.
100% of (180 fr + 96 ex) = 276

Honnestly, it's better to built 100% of 276 planes than 100% of the nose, 100% of the tail, 100% of the spin and some engines and radar parts of 623 planes !

3000 x F35 ? NEVER. The USA will reduce their order drastically. To purchase more legacy fighters.

What about the 10% of F-35s though? The US alone has 2,200 ordered.

Germany and Italy are also favouring new upgraded Typhoons to replace Tornado ECRs. That's another 200 aircraft.

Via BLOOMBERG :
"Durability testing data indicates service-life of initial F-35B short-takeoff-vertical landing jets bought by Marine Corps “is well under” expected service life of 8,000 fleet hours; “may be as low as 2,100″ hours Pentagon test office says in 2018 annual report obtained by Bloomberg that’s scheduled for release this week. That means some jets expected to start hitting service life limit in 2026.Furthermore, there’s no “improving trend in” aircraft availability to fly training or combat missions as it’s remained “flat” over the past 3 years.

Testing through September of Air Force model gun intended for air-to-ground attack indicates accuracy “unacceptable,” DoD tester says"

Let's see when the F-35 is on equal footing in a tender first.

How do you mean? Switzerland is French-speaking and a long way from neutral. I've always suspected that their last evaluation was skewed and the leak of the results suspicious.

That's a good news for Lockheed, it means they'll sell four times as many.

How do you mean? Switzerland is French-speaking
German-speaking majority. 62% German speakers vs. 22% French speakers. Bern and Zürich, where the power is effectively concentrated, are German-speaking cities.

You're just preemptively building an excuse.

What's language got to do with military purchases? In India we speak more English than French, and we didn't buy the Typhoon.

Man, forget Dassault's excuses or LM's excuses. You are the one with all the lame excuses.
