Does it say this radar is for Jaguar specifically? It looks like it's just a generic model for presentation and not representative of the real radar for Jaguar. The Jaguar will likely not carry such a large radar.

It's also possible it's representative for LCA's radar since the model looks to be about 60-65 cm, similar to what LCA can carry.
Gautam Sir
How are you so certain of GaN in Uttam. With full respect I want to know the link of claim. Please. 🙏 🙏 🙏
In a recent interview DRDO chief said that once we achieve 40 watts GaN transmiter power, GaN will be used in उत्तम AESA, but as of now it has Gas. I only remember but not have link.

Uttam's being tested with GaAs. GaN will be the production standard.

PKS claimed to be so. I really don't know where the Jaguar upgrade is heading with the HAL presenting the Jaguar MAX and all.

The DARIN III upgrade and Jaguar Max are two different programs. Max is aimed at upgrading the DARIN II jets. With the engine situation being what it is, Max will likely not happen.

Without being Re Engined , Jaguar has become a light Bomber

It cannot carry more than One Tonne of Bombs in addition to CCM, SPJ , drop tanks

Its strength lies in Formation Of 4 aircraft attacking together
It was/ is meant to be a DPSU. Wonder what role will it perform now that the re engining is ruled out. We do lack effective bombers for precision targetting unless we're satisfied our land launched BM's & CM's can do the job effectively or where they can't, PGMs can do so. Or is the IAF waiting to induct the Rafales in strength to replace the Jaguars.

The engine is already proven on XTD and it has very good SFC. It has dry thrust of 35kn which close to the max afterburner thrust of present Jag engines-37.5KN. The afterburning thrust of these enhines is 49KN.

Yeah, but at 35KN, won't the fuel consumption be higher anyway?

It wont need to operate at that thrust unless it wants to do supercruise. present engines on Jag have dry thrust of just 25kn. Jag needs to engage afterburners if it wants more thrust that the dry thrust while this engine can go upto nearly the same thrust in dry power. Another plus pint is that this engine is nearly 170kgs lighter. 644kgs vs 809 kgs. Its thrust can be further enhanced by using tech from XF-9 engine which has TET of 1800*c. This engine has TET of 1600*c. Plus its weight can be further reduced by using CMC components from XF-9 engine.
