UAE, is now pursing for F35, Qatar which purchased 36 rafale us going for f15.But the stealth category is empty
I didn't see any official documents on cancellation of mmrca2.
Yes, Its very much alive and F-18 will win it this time. We will give repeat orders for Rafale. BUT F-18 is a nearly done thing. With F414EPE of 116KN thust, F-18 will out do even Rafale from Leh. AND it is going to be cheaper than Rafale.
Hi, do you have any ideas on what all are the weapons we are gonna get along with f18.Is AIM260 & AGM 158 B (ER) is on offer? What will be their Technology offer?
I think US Radar technology is the best in world and if we are getting any TOT on it, its well nd good.

Will the F-18s be able to operate alone, like the Rafale or will it need a Growler support? Rather, does the F-18 have anything like the self defence /snooping suite of the Rafale?

Rafale uses far more advanced technology and airframe design and materials, so it's going to be expensive. But LCC will be much cheaper than SH 'cause overhauls are very expensive. I mean the overhauls alone could cost as much as the Rafale needs to operate for its entire life. Plus if you convert all the maintenance manhours into money, the SH will become even more expensive. SH needs 15 hours on the ground for every 1 hour of flight on average. Rafale needs 9 hours. Effectively double.
MLU will be far more expensive for SH because we will be the only primary operator in 2045 with a low number of jets compared to the operational Rafale fleet. So it's going to be like how the Jaguar is today. It will be worse if the US says they won't allow India to modernise the jet without OEM, which means giving them money for MLU. Most other countries will likely simply scrap it after USN retires the jet. Anyway, the airframe is very old with almost no growth potential, so any MLU will be irrelevant by then. Worst case is even we will scrap them without MLU (We will be a very rich country by then).
Boeing plans to rope in HAL for SH production in MRFA. MRCBF is expected to be bought off the shelf, but I don't think the IN will go ahead with the 3rd carrier plan right away, so the MRCBF may very well be cancelled.
I repeat that the F-18 is a joke. And if it was enough to increase the power of the engine to make a good plane all the aircraft manufacturers would be great.
Instead of changing the power of engines, Boeing would be better to review the aerodynamics of its plane which is so rotten that they couldn't even align the loads under the wings with the direction of the relative wind, so that the super hornet which was supposed to have 30% more autonomy than the hornet has a comparable, barely superior autonomy. And I'm not telling you what the autonomy will be with the new engines!
I am not sure but with new engines with much higher dry thrust, it should be able to supercruise and F414 does have TVC variant but it is not included in F18.
F-18 does have full SPJ suite.
MMRCA 2.0 includes manufacture in India.
Things are changing slowly, we are co developing swarn drons with USA, a future technology.
