Buy 3-4 squadrons worth Mig29 & Mirage 2000. Keep the production line of Su30MKI running untill Su30 MLU program is ready, buy another 36 Rafale. And then for God's sake, Tejas ka kuch karo.

1 sq each of su30mki and mig29 coming ,order this october.Nothing much else.

Need repeat order of 36-54 rafales.
Begin upgrade of su30 in batches.
Sign tejas mk1a 83 units soon.
Add meteor to mirage2k.
No hope for mmrca 2.0.Another bureaucratic mess.Between all these commitments and economy expect nothing to move very soon.

We need to cancel 2 two things.

1. MMRCA 2.0 (Instead buy as many Rafales as possible, and as many Su30MKI as possible)

2. TejasMK2 (Instead push and focus all resources on AMCA, else we will be testing a 4th gen fighter when the world will be moving to 6th gen tech )
2.

Not a good idea. We need a fully functioning SP policy up and running before the next elections. Just buying Rafales was planned earlier and scrapped in favour of SPM.

As for MKIs, nothing more than 1 more squadron, very likely meant for attrition replacements and raising a full squadron instead of just half a squadron that was planned earlier. We may see 1 or 2 additional squardons of Mig-29 though.

Nobody can afford a full fleet of 5th and 6th gen aircraft. We need large numbers of an aircraft like the MWF with mature, proven technologies. A huge chunk of money required for MWF R&D has already been spent. And the program itself is very important for the development of AMCA. In simple terms, without Mk2, there's no AMCA. AMCA is not expected until the mid 2030s anyway. So people need something to do until then.

Also there may not be a significant difference between 5th and 6th gen. The differences will primarily be in terms of electronics.

It'll be interesting if this happens.

Better than 2nd tranche at least.

But I'd take this news with salt.

Dont think there is money for 114+57 more rafales. No way can this be concurrent with 83 tejas mk1a(6 billion approx), Also sukhoi upgrade (8 bilion plus). However post 2023 budget wil be higher and air force will have completed its enormous air defence acquisition(s400,mrsam etc) and also many of its helicopter needs. Then we would have some room.Until then i dont see mmrca2.0 .36 more rafales might easily happen instead of 114.

Yep. Need mucho money for that plan.

Modi is visiting France on 24th of this month on the occasion of the 45th G7 summit. That's 10 days from now, if anything is to be signed during that visit we can be fairly certain the negotiations are already over. Maybe that's why Modi was invited to the G7 summit in the first place, India is not a member of the G7 you know.

PM Modi’s France visit: Focus on terrorism, space and military cooperation

Here another guy claiming the same :

With Dassault Aviation shifting focus to FCAS, Rumors of Shifting Rafale production to India – Indian Defence Research Wing

**** isn't exactly reliable, so let's wait.

That's BS. FCAS won't be ready until 2040. What's Dassault gonna do the entire time?

As for Modi's visit, at best we may see an MoU signed for 36 jets, maybe 54, or nothing's gonna happen right now on the Rafale front. At worst, some hand-shaking and photo-ops.

Shifting, i do not think so. But building another assembly line in Nagpur is quite consistent with the huge hangar being built in Nagpur.

In spite of Falcon assembly there?

Any benefits India can have using Falcon instead of Emb145 jet for Netra AWACS operationally?

There has been no such deal to replace the Embraer ERJ 145 with Falcon. The ERJ145 deal was stopped due to allegations of corruption. I don't think there will be any expansion of the NETRA AWACS fleet based on the ERJ airframe. Therefore DRDO is looking for an alternate platform. Looks like they found one :

It's just overzealous reporting.

Pretty much everyone on this forum know that even if Dassault wishes to produce all Rafales in India for the sake of greater profits, DGA wants all ADLA/MN-specific Rafales to be produced in France.

I doubt the IAF will be interested in more. It's more to do with limited capability than the corruption case.

But the export market will surely be interested.

No harm in trying. IAF want the more capable A330 based AWACS. But the NETRA was a good project for us. It helped us overcome many problems of the steep learning curve in development of airbourne AESA radars.
But the export market will surely be interested.
I believe Indonesia showed some interest in the NETRA some time back. With a scanning range of 475 kms that radar is a gem of a hardware and if it came with IAF's threat library, it will outdo anything in the market in this category, that's a big if though.

If pitched well we might just get some orders. Given our history with defence exports, we shouldn't keep high hopes. Also exports are dificult if IAF isn't interested.
