Off-Topic Chit-Chat

From what I hear, during implementation of recommendations of Mandal Commission in 90 or so, India was mighty divided to the point riots. Protests were wide spread and upper castes were totally suspicious of lower castes intentions. Interestingly this was a nation wide protest: Unlike riots of Babri Masjid demolition which was mainly a north India thing.

That said both of these are events before I was born.. So I have not seen on street reality.
There were rumors that 97% of all govt jobs will be reserved and 3 upper casts I.e. Brahmins, Khatriyas and Baniyas will get only 3%. This sort of nonsense added fuel to riots and unsocial elements exploited the situation. Those days communication was slow and TV was limited to Doordarshan only. By the time reality sunk in, damage was already done. Most of the rioters were not students and under the garb of the protest looted stores and damaged public property. Unfortunately quite a few students died in police firing.

The phenomenon you are witnessing my friend is called astroturfing. Its quite an old technique though social media makes it much easier to implement. There is a very simple chain of events which one can understand quite easily.

1. When was he last time when India had more than a third of population accessible for less than USD 200/300 per month? I think still 10-20 secs on doordarshan/cable still runs in Lakhs.
2. When was the last time when a political party acquired almost 2/3rd majority in lower house?
3. When was the last time when a political upheave happened?

Agreed.

Means are different. But it is the same divide and rule anti national politics of the royal family.

Remember who propped up Bhindranwale? Or Shivsena or even gave MNS a free hand? Who made unconstitutional citizenship laws in Assam? Or rigged JnK elections? And that was just state level, imagine what they are capable of to get back control of the center?

The only "international" mods, Chinese included, are those who are Muslim or have the concurrence of the ISI and their Arab sponsors.

No Indian has ever been a mod.

Cheers, Doc

Do you remember the name of the individual who had THIS icon against his name in PDF ? ;)

DO you know how I recognize Islamist's ?

They never tiers talking about "hindu castes" and "dalits". Very much like BBC articles. Know anyone like that ?

You can keep Abusing the BJP but the FACT is that Congress took Hindus FOR GRANTED
in such a brazen and shameless manner that Hindu support for BJP and Modi is nothing but a Revolt

Hindus had begun to feel totally sidelined and abused during UPA 2 rule

For years the ONLY two words that came out of Congress 's MOUTH were
Minorities and Secularism

Therefore Hindus have abandoned Congress

This was also realised by the Congressi Rouges who have since then started
visiting Temples

Secularism isn't a dirty word.

Unless you want to sit here on an Indian forum and call your country dirty.

Cheers, Doc

As i said before ; When the Congress party started taking Hindus For GRANTED
Their ONLY Two concerns were Minorities and Secularism

This made the Hindus Realise that Congress is a MUSLIM PARTY

And Now Congress is Busy Fighting off this Stain on their face

BJP managed to convince people we are a Muslim party: Sonia Gandhi

Even if what you say is true. Its going to be a bumpy ride. 30 million Pakistani shias willing to fight for the mullahs are no joke.
Well. A Malaysian distribution would be an upgrade to the current system.

I highly doubt that Iran will descend into civil war.

If anything, Pakistan will eventually be the refuge for the ayatollahs and their Basiji top brass.

It is Pakistan that is the proxy battlefield for the Persian Arab war. Not vice versa.

It becomes easy with a people of no historical identity of their own. A strong sense of self.

Both of which the Iranians have in heaps.

I've always maintained that Israel and Iran are natural allies.

You will be surprised at how things develop.

It does not matter.

It is the Hindu majority that will boot the BJP out for wasting it's mandate.

Who will you target as your enemy then?

Self hating Hindus!

It wasn't until it fell into the Congress Party's hand. They MADE it a dirty word, through their dirty intentions, dirty actions, and dirty misuse of the term to engage in the worst sorts of varied communalism and polarization for the sake of their own political gain.

They worked well with each other while the Shah was still around. Khomeini bandar ne aake sab chopat kar diya.

It is not a dirty word for most Indians who have never stopped being secular.

May I ask where you saw 'Hindu' being mentioned in my post? I am very much aware of and accept that among the Muslims of the subcontinent and even among converted christians 'Caste' still exists. Heck, it is legally recognized. You can be a Buddhist and still claim caste based benefits -- which in-fact many folks do. Caste is a social construct in our subcontinent which exists parallel to religion.

Congress is neither a Hindu party nor a Muslim party. It is a family run business for all practical purposes. It will align itself to those who can be a part of its winning strategy. Historically it was left leaning, socialist party but no more.
Secularism isn't a dirty word.
Being secular, in real meaning is very close to being atheist. Funny thing is, within India no political party will like to call itself 'atheist' but a number of them will like to keep the tag of 'secular'. Secular simply means giving no shit to any religion, which ironically our country or our politics is not.

That became obvious with this post of yours Shajida.
May I request you to comment upon, how much more intense the current polarization is as compared with that of early 90s. I believe you are one of the folks here who were in their teens or youth years in that time.

Did you grow up in India?

Did you do your schooling in India?

India has always been a secular nation of intensely religious people.

The atheistic argument is what we regularly hear from Pakistanis on PDF. Because they do not have a clue, being born and brought up in an Islamic state.

Which is the reason for my first two questions.

Cheers, Doc

As far as I know it was not just few folks died in police action but many student did self-immolation during protests. Few people I know tell me that long after VP Singh government, the protests slogans still remained on walls of offices and homes. I remember reading one in early 2000 with something on the line "VP's Mandal Bidi Bundle" on the walls of a railway station.
