PAK-FA / Sukhoi Su-57 - Updates and Discussions

Or may be they are desperate to get some customers and trying to impress them with live demo.

What the Russians have managed to do is deploy a 5th gen jet in combat, the second one to do so. That beats the F-35.

The aircraft still carries working 5th gen technologies, so it's a good time to test it in an actual combat environment.

This plane is still a work in progress so many specs wouldn't be in final configuration. Final RCS ,weapon and Radar configuration wouldnt be what it is now. Its more of a PR stunt than anything else.

The deployment could also be a sign from Russia to India that Su-57 program (for FGFA) is at a much more progressed state than being propagated in the media, especially since LM is slowly enticing IAF with their F-35.

To see if west planes can detect it !
You just have to fly near or just at the border of a west controled area and wait....

The Russians definitely know where the PAK FA stands with respect to the F-22 and the F-35. And I'm sure the IAF will have such information as well, even if they haven't checked it first hand.

Moving those prototypes to Syria is a signal to the world, not the IAF.

I think this has nothing to do with IAF, it is just a Russian way of showing confidence in their 5th Gen tech.

IAF already has much better info about Su-57's capability, but they'll be following them in action as much as the RuAF is doing + Chances of F35 in IAF is same as the chances of F16 in IAF, which is zero. LM is only wasting its time & money in lobbying for this jet.

Ofcourse, Im not talking about IAF though. As of now, the Su-57 is a program with lot of troubles in the eyes of public/ and foreign media. By deploying them in a combat mission, even if its just an eyewash, they can change the public perception about the aircraft.

The FGFA deal is badly needed by the Russians to move the PAKFA program forward. The need the Indian public and media to take notice of the jet in a positive light, against the aggressive PR stunt by Lockheed and US.

Russians are not fools. they have done it with a clear aim to check its sensors against F-22s which are also deployed in Syria and also against F-35I of Israelis. They will learn very good lessons from this deployement regarding their own capabilities and also that of enemy.
I won't mind is Su-57 downs 1 or 2 F-22 or F-35.:love::love:

Russia has already lost their jets in Syria, I want to see some USA jets getting taste of Syrian soil too. Israel though seems to be using its F-16 rather than risking F35 in the region. I think Israel knows the presence of Russian SAMs will play against them even if their F35 escapes them safely it would still give Russians a much better idea of dealing with F35s in future. And once the news of "Su35 killing F35" propagates then LM's F35 program will be history.:devilish:

Expansion grouping due to the fifth generation
Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation transferred Su-57 to Syria

On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the RF Ministry of Defense sent several Su-57 fighters to the airbase of Khmeimim, which have been developed since the beginning of the 2000s, but have not yet been adopted. According to Kommersant's information, it is not so much about the strategic strengthening of the Russian air group as about the desire of the military and industry to test cars in conditions close to combat aircraft. And also to demonstrate clearly the capabilities of the defense industry and to show on the advantageous side the actions of the Russian military in Syria.

Last week, several units of the advanced aviation complex of front-line aviation (PAK FA) Su-57 were sent to Syria, this fact was confirmed by several sources in the defense industry. The interlocutors of "Kommersant" told that the cars were brought in two sets. Initially, snapshots of fighters landing at Khmeimim appeared on Twitter: in total, according to unofficial information, four Su-57s were sent to Syria. According to one of the interlocutors of Kommersant, the vehicles were redeployed as part of the fifth-generation fighter armament test program, which has been in operation since the summer of 2017.

According to Kommersant's information, in Syria, the Su-57 will test the EW and radar systems, but it does not yet speak of full-fledged combat use.

In the UAC comment on the question "b" about sending the Su-57 to Syria did not: "We are in this story there." The Ministry of Defense left an official request to "Kommersant" without an answer. The multi-purpose fighter of the fifth generation of Su-57 is being developed by Sukhoi Design Bureau. It is equipped with a new complex of deeply integrated avionics, has a high level of control automation and intelligent crew support. Developments began in 2001, the first test flight was conducted in 2010. In August 2017, he received the factory index Su-57, and in December made the first flight with a new engine.

According to the source of Kommersant, close to the military department, the principal decision to send the Su-57 was made following the results of the closed display of the aircraft at the air show in Zhukovsky. "Taking into account the declared program of tests, the Defense Ministry decided to send the fighter to Syria in February, formally timed everything to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland," - says the source "Kommersant."

The first stage of state tests has already been completed, the second stage is planned to be completed in 2019. At the same time, as previously reported to Kommersant, the Ministry of Defense will conclude a contract with the Sukhoi Corporation for the first Su-57 squadron (12 aircraft). According to Deputy Defense Minister for Armaments Yuri Borisov, in the course of the design work, as many aircraft have been built, 10 of them are participating in the tests and the first two of this party can enter the troops as early as 2018.

As reported in an interview with Kommersant, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, the first stage of the tests allowed "to confirm the correctness of the decisions taken in the part of the airframe, a set of airborne equipment, providing systems and equipment, and aviation weapons." And in 2019, according to him, the military will receive an installation lot to connect to the test program. As the vice-president of the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs, Lieutenant-General Yevgeny Buzhinsky, is now witnessing the pilot-combat operation of the machine.

Obviously, it was considered advisable that the Su-57, as well as other aviation, be baptized in Syria, "the expert said.

He specifies that the quantity also corresponds to the current realities: it is unlikely that more aircraft have been made, that is, "everything that has been sent was elementary".

Head of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies Ruslan Pukhov believes that there are several reasons for sending the Su-57 to Syria."First of all, we are talking about planned tests and tests. The car needs a combat run-in, "the expert believes. According to him, there is also a reputational moment: successful application in Syria can give a new impetus to the development of the FGFA project. "From the point of view of the operation of the Russian Civilian Air Forces in Syria, there is no special need to send the Su-57, however, it is only possible to speak about the result of the application, based on its results," the expert concluded. In August 2017, Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov said that the military tested more than 600 weapons in Syria.

I think they are also highlighting the combat capabilities of Su-57 to Syria and Iran who would be the big buyers for Su-57 in this region.
there are many powers that are trying to take down Assad and its more clear due to this conflict, if Syria has these planes then even Israel will be cautious. Also with say Su-57 with Iran the new Rafales purchased by Qatar, Egypt and Eurofighters by Saudis will be close to junk.

Well folks i dont know where to club and post this bcz of various topics it covers ...

Will try to cover most here

Genesis of the Single Engine Requirement

There was a time when an internal assessment was made by MOD approximately 2 years ago. The contents of many to and fro communication are pretty big but few of the points in nutshell is these below

  1. The communication to begin with states that IAF is skeptical on PAK-FA
  2. New improved counter measures in Rafale "N.V." is as good as a planned T-50.

I am talking about why the Russians have sent Su-57 to Syria, where did IAF come here? The Demo is not really for IAF but for Iran and Syria as first has and IAF to maybe see it from distance.

IAF has been nicely breast fed by the French with all the garbage that they see French as high technology, unfortunately, The Russians are developing something which the French are not capable of doing so,

IAF also has different lobbys, the Pro French lobby, pro American lobby etc,

But ultimately, IAF can only be suggestive, it cannot really purchase, the GoI does, and GoI does not have shortage of pilots, So even if the top brass of IAF say takes a retirement, then it might be considered good Riddance. Because it seeems that the IAF top brass had been well managed by UPA govt so much so that when MoD was discussing with Dassault during MRCA it was IAF trying to weaken the GoI stand (where IAF said there is only Rafale, there is no plan B) so with the GoI being so popular, it might be difficult to perhaps show IAF that they should tell them what they want, but its upto GoI what it gets for them
