The one mentioned as Type 095 is actually the Type 093A, Shang 2. There's now a Type 093B and obviously the successor, the Type 095.
The 093 and 093A aren't good.

Why the US Navy Should Fear China's New 093B Nuclear Attack Submarine
Is China’s new Type 093B nuclear-powered attack submarine on par with the U.S. Navy’s Improved Los Angeles-class boats? At least some U.S. naval analysts believe so and contend that the introduction of the new People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) submarines is an indication of just how quickly...

So at least unofficial assessments put it in the same category as the Improved LA class or the Akula II.
Anyway, after building experimental subs, they are now entering the mass production stage, which means their subs are now competitive.
While I doubt they are at the Virgnia's level yet, probably not even close to the Yasen, but they could be just half a decade or so behind.
