Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

an Indian F3R version. ie F3R (Meteor able, Talios...) with some indian dedicated modifications (very cold start, sat links, lower bands Spectra, maybe Astra and/or Brahmos mini integration...)

Thanks, is IAF getting SCALP and AASM also? Is the Spectra what IAF getting is the same version as FAF or is it a lower-end version?

Brahmos-NG first test is scheduled for 2024. So, No.

instead of over priced AASM, we will be be using Isreali Spice PGMs. Which some terrorists are already acquainted with.

For commonality not Talios but Lightning.

AASM and Spice are different type of beasts, know?

SCALP yes. AASM no. We will make use of our own and/or Israeli LGB/PGMs in its place.

Export variants being slightly downgraded/modified is not unheard of - though in the case of India-France there isn't likely to be any major reason for doing so considering strategic partnership. However, given the close proximity of Indian assets to the Russians, there is likely to be a level of safeguarding done by the French. But then again, no one will announce this openly so it's pointless to ask.

BrahMos-NG will definitely be integrated down the line, in the mid or late 2020s, whenever its ready.

Indigenous PGHSLD munitions will also be used with all IAF combat aircraft.

A lot of people make the spelling mistake - it's LITENING.

Depends which SPICE you're talking about. If it's the larger SPICE-1000 or -2000 (like used in Balakot), then they are fundamentally similar in the sense that they're both add-on kits to turn unguided dumb bombs into smart munitions.

If you're thinking of the smaller SPICE-250 (or the indigenous SAAW of similar layout & dimensions), then it's a different thing because these are completely purpose-built PGMs (not conversions of dumb bombs).

SCALP is already ordered.
It was said when the Rafale deal was inked that Israeli Spice will be integrated. No news since. AASM is always on track...
I'm afraid no "light" stand off air to ground bombs ordered for now.

AASM BLOCK 4 is cheaper. 400.000 euros each.

Doesn't matter when we have already selected Spice for the role.
In this case, it is strange that no one speak about this SPICE integration. Only just after the deal was inked we heard that SPICE is to be integrated, but nothing more since.
SAFRAN hope again to be selected.... doesn't it mean that the game remains open ?
