Nothing much we can do. In the long run, introduce PLI like scheme for civilian shipbuilding and cultivate a champion. The issue is not with naval shipbuilding but the lack of scale advantage from the civil shipbuilding.

Applicable to evey sector, not just ship building. If you want to develop your military engineering, develop ypur domestic civil engineering sector. Here we import even compressor refrigerator and expect military to induct only indigenous products.

Looks like Wumao number fudging. IN is not this slow and PLAN is not this much faster than the rest of the world. Let's not get started on civilian shipbuilding sector because currently, that's a pretty big embarrassment for India.
