Tejas Mk2 (Medium Weight Fighter) - News and discussions

Indeed.
Choice to wait, choice to developp a outdated bird, choice to leave China the lead, choice to spend money on aborted projects....
It's your choice.
Fortunately, we're up against China & not the US or any of the European great powers. Granted , they're ahead of the curve when compared to India but do also consider the fact that, We've yet to see any evidence of their mastery of 5th Gen technologies in Fighter Aircraft . They're still struggling with their engine program albeit they'd definitely crack this sometime soon. They're in a unique category in that in a short time they'd have 3 aircraft carriers yet they haven't yet come up with a suitable fighter aircraft for carrier operations. We'd go thru similar problems too but in the long run, it's better you have something indigenous which is not exactly state of the art rather than be beholden to a foreign power in such critical technologies.

In the wet dreams of some indian people. The record of Indian aeronautic field isn't rich enough to be so confident. With no offense. Just look Tejas long long road....
Its like Disco Enthusiasts with their 'The White Man's Burden' asking us to change our bharatnatyam.

Why dont you STFD and do your job of Coreographing Dassault product and leave indian Dancers alone. Take it as a free advise.
Mod Edit :)

It's an Indian problem !
It's not the fault of Saab, Mig, Sukhoi, EF, Boeing, LM or DA.

We have already seen the efficiency of your Dassault Aviation. 6 years to deliver 36 jets.

Nothing wrong with that. MMRCA expectation is also the same.
Why nothing wrong? They boasted of 33 Rafales/yr capacity, also of highly automated manufacturing process. So we should have received atleast 18 by now or end of 2020 and entire order of 36 by mid 2021. irrespective of Egyptian order of 24 and qatar order of 36....
Lockheed Martin delivered one F16/day.😱Now that's called efficiency.....☺

Lol, dude. Order thousands of Rafales, you will get 1 or 2 per day as well.

The Rafale line is supplying 4 countries right now, France, India, Egypt and Qatar.

Even the US won't give you 36 F-16s in a year if you order only 36, even during peak F-16 production.

Sir , ofcourse we agree that our Progess is Slow

But as Compared to the Year 2010 , we are in a much better shape in 2020

The Knowledge gap is getting Reduced every year

This Decade is going to bring out HUGE success in this Tejas program with atleast
3 variants fully completed

Even AMCA would have achieved IOC by 2030

We will have 36 AMCA Mk1 by the end of 2030

@Bon Plan

If you really want to know how far we have travelled, here is the story

TILL 2010 , The common people of India
Did not care for LCA program

In APRIL 2010 , LCA made the first flight with
Elta Hybrid MMR based on Elta 2032 RADAR

Only after this , the public started following
LCA program seriously

So in one decade we have made considerable progress

Today One Squadron is Operational
Tejas has achieved 6 sorties per plane
In Surge Operations

AESA radar is coming up soon

MK 2 design has been frozen and work on
First Production model has begun

It has been a Tough decade but we have made some definite Progress

I tried to explain this to our friends across the border. That LCA program became a fighter jet program only in 2010. And then went on to achieve IOC in just 3-4 years, in Dec 2013, followed by opening up of full flight envelope by the end of 2015, the same time JF-17 Block 2 was introduced. Beyond this, all the delays were not significant and some had nothing to do with India itself, like the British refueler. What's interesting is both PAF and IAF will see near simultaneous induction of JF-17 Block 3 and LCA Mk1A.

Add to that LCA Mk1A is going to be way superior to the Pakistani Jf-17 block 3.

This article says that AMCA would enter
Squadron service in 2040.

Earlier assumption was 2035

So IAF will have to buy 40 odd SU 57

So it turns out ORCA is indeed the air force version. A direct Rafale competitor.
How long do you think it'd take before we have a FOC ORCA? 15 years from now? & that's just an FOC version not a full squadron. Which would be around 2040 timelines. What will the IAF do till then with the nos it'd be retiring in the interim?
