Basically NRC requires people to prove their citizenship to weed out illegal immigrants and CAA allowed non-Muslim asylum seekers from Pak, Afghan and BD get a fastrack 5 years to citizenship instead of the usual 14, Muslims are exempt 'cause they can move to other Muslim countries, while non-Muslims cannot.
We had to deal with large scale protests by Muslims and the left in India because of all this, further fueled by the EU. It took COVID lockdowns to end the protests.
