Ukraine - Russia Conflict

In the battles for the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, one of the Russian T-72B tanks withstood a hit in the upper part of the tower of the Swedish-British portable NLAW ATGM, in the attack footage, one of the nationalists of the Azov battalion shoots at a Russian T-72B tank.

The footage of the destroyed division of the S-300 air defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the settlement of Circuna, Kharkiv region, was published by the Russian Defense Ministry. The coordinates of the location of the S-300 air defense system of Ukraine were established with the help of electronic intelligence, after which the positions were struck by missile weapons. As a result of an accurate hit, the launchers of the S-300 air defense system and transport-loading vehicles with ammunition were destroyed.

Published footage of the calculations of the operational-tactical missile complex "Iskander-K" and the launch of the cruise missile R-500 in Ukraine. Iskander is a family of operational and tactical missile systems that has been in service with the Russian army for 15 years. Iskander is not a single missile system, but several modifications of various missiles. The basis of the Iskander-K complex is the 9K728 cruise missile, also known as the R-500, the launch of which is shown in the video. The missile has incredible accuracy, and is capable of hitting targets with an accuracy of up to two meters. Officially, the range of the R-500 missile is about 500 kilometers, but many sources believe that the actual range of the missile is 2000-2500

More than a month into Russia’s war in Ukraine, Mariupol has been left decimated, as shown in photos from the port city that document the large-scale destruction caused by Moscow's ongoing assault.
Before the war, Mariupol was the country’s 10th largest city, with a population of more than 430,000.
Like other cities in Ukraine, it was a bustling modern metropolis filled with arts and culture. The Donetsk Regional Drama Theater, a few blocks north of the Sea of Azov in the city’s center, was one of its many landmarks.

But constant shelling by Russian forces — upwards of 50 to 100 airstrikes per day by land, air and sea — has forced hundreds of thousands to flee, Ukrainian officials say.
Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko recently called for the remaining population, which he estimated to be 160,000 people, to fully evacuate the besieged city. His office said this week that nearly 5,000 of the residents have been killed, including more than 200 children.
Those who have stayed are essentially trapped with no food, no drinking water and no electricity in an apocalyptic hellscape.

According to one estimate, 80% to 90% of Mariupol’s buildings have been destroyed in the monthlong siege.
“There is nothing left there,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week. “Only ruins.”
Two weeks ago, the drama theater, which was being used as one of the main shelters in Mariupol, was bombed. Ukrainian officials said Friday that they now believe as many as 300 people may have been killed in the attack.
According to the United Nations, at least 1,189 civilian deaths, including those of more than 100 children, have been confirmed in Ukraine since Feb. 24, when Russia’s military invasion began, though U.N. officials caution that the actual death toll is likely to be much higher.
The conflict has also triggered one of the largest refugee waves in history, with the total number of people fleeing Ukraine approaching 4 million.

No, it didn't, the operator fired it inside minimum range (20m), and the warhead didn't arm.

Nearly not enough. I had hoped for Germany type approach across the board.

Yes, there has been considerable restraint. Because the Russians are not targeting civilians, they consider the civilians their own. CMs hit military targets, the same as in Desert Storm. But artillery is where there was restraint. Since it's not a precision system, it can kill everything.

Can you imagine this hitting London?

Why does that matter? The commodities we are talking about are too few for such a direct comparison to matter.

Russia-China trade is not an equal trade. If China stops supplies to Russia for a year, the Russians will survive. If Russia stops supplies to China for a year, China will get f&cked up. That's the importance of the commodity.
It'll be enough. Don't you worry.

Unguided artillery is only suitable for area bombardment, using it on cities (i.e. civilian areas) is therefore indiscriminate fire, which is a war crime and there were plenty of civilian casualties, even people trying to evacuate. They only used artillery in desert areas in Desert Storm.

Good restraint.

I'd say Kyiv showed more restraint in not responding by firing this at Moscow.

They could fire one at the Kremlin yet.

Because you are wrong, just as Europe can give up Russian gas and experience some pain, China can give it up and experience less pain. They can lessen the blow simply by reducing taxes on fuel. And China is a martial law country that doesn't care about pain or hardship or keeping votes. On the other hand, China can completely break Russia by refusing trade, which added on top of the EU's sanctions would be Russia completely and utterly *censored*ed.

You also fail to understand that there are Russian assets in China, which China could just seize and then sell to fund the cost of replacement when Russia refuses to honour oil contracts anyway. Just as Europe and the US will do on April Fool's ( :poop: tin's) day if oil contracts specified in dollars are not delivered on by Russia.

It's quite difficult to believe that they would open so many fronts at once with no real preparation at all. So feints in the north, all for the real objective, the south and the east, their Novorossiya plan, while thinking the pro-Russians populations will fall quickly. Anyway, this splits the Ukrainian Army across the country, and now the Russians will amass their firepower alongisde the territory that they actually want.

Some plans may not have worked out, like getting stuck in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv.

What are your impressions on this war and the future?
Stop! You're getting funnier than _Anonymouse_. It's called having your enemy surrounded and they still lost 15,000 men and thousands of vehicles. They could have chucked them all it the sea and poured asphalt and tar over them to build a land bridge and saved on munitions instead.

"Getting rid of Nazis in Kyiv," was stated and restated as part of the plan. In Russian parliament one guy even stood up and said recently, "if we can't even remove that idiot Zelensky from Kyiv, who are we to threaten NATO?"

I agree with the war lasting a long time. It's the same apprehension I have with respect to a war with China. Even if they failed to achieve their objectives in a war with India, they can still keep it going for a long time, a lot longer than us.

If diplomacy is a no go, then tiring Ukraine out would be the best bet.
Ukraine won't get tired, it has the support of the whole of Europe and North America. Sanctioned Russia will get tired of Putin long before, assuming they haven't already.

Wonder if there'll be a turret throwing competition at the next Olympics.

So, what you're saying is essentially Ukraine is winning yet whining. What you're also saying is the seige of Kiev or Kyiv has turned into the Battle of Stalingrad & from now onwards this can only lead to the Battle of Berlin or in this case the Battle of Moscow & eventually Putin will have to bite the bullet or in all likelihood a cyanide capsule like Hitler which makes the comedian a Stalin or a De Gaulle or a Church mouse .

Is that what you're saying , Paddy ?

Putin probably doesn't even know what's happening on the ground and no one dares tell him.

What a pointless war. Achievements so far:

1. 15,000 dead soldiers and thousands of destroyed vehicles.
2. Sanctioned by 2/3rds of the world.
3. Marginal gain of territory which there's absolutely no way they can hold long-term.

I don't think the results would be much worse even if his military had fired at themselves for 5 weeks. At least they wouldn't be sanctioned.

I don't try to predict the future, I just observe and listen to the opinions of those who have more information than me.
Looks like the head of your military intelligence couldn't even manage that, see post above.

The browbeating begins.

Why this people cant mind in their own business?
Our actions are the only thing that refrain Russia to become a satellite nation of PRC.
70% of inventory is either Russian or Indo-Russian.
And if the Putin wants snd Chinese are aggressive enough to make deal a little delay in weapons logistics would ended up as disaster for us .
West already made Ukraine scape goat .
We dont want the help of anyone else .
We will take care of us.
And West is not the one that writes history
