Ukrain had 8 long years before today's war, what did they do? Nothing. They keep on flying old Russian junk instead of buying new. You can blame NATO for irking Russians by giving a membership offer to Ukraine, but can't blame them gor present military strength of Ukraine.
Our future generation will blame us for siting idle like Ukraine after 2019.
 

This is what happens when you don't have Joint-Command in your military and branches fight as separate entities. It's the same with chicom military although they have recently started a version of Joint-Command but they are years away from becoming decent.

They must have already gamed quite a lot of that already.

And it's not just getting Ukrained, we can easily deal with that, they can do to us what they did to Russia too. They are trying their best to make us choose sides so we get stuck with them. After that, once we have made enemies of both Russia and China, they can make us into their b!tch overnight. At least Russia can protect itself with its veto, whereas we can easily get UNSC mandated sanctions placed on us at anytime.

Losing Russia to China completely will be very bad for India, but it's unlikely to happen. But losing our neutrality will become our greatest existential threat. If Western commentators and analysts don't understand this fact, then they are very misguided in their thinking.

Families of high ranking politicians evacuated from Ukraine with police protection while ordinary Ukrainian civilians are stuck under siege. Locals tried to protest, but the Ukrainian security forces threatened to shoot them.

Look at the massive resources, planning, technology, diplomacy, and confidence Russia might have accumulated before going for this adventure. Imagine India doing similar and the result. India needs at least 50 more years to be at par with Russia and US.
