They continue to keep these APC, IFV weight low so they can cross rivers & other water bodies easily..... While rest of the world move to medium to Heavy IFV based platforms due to changing nature of warfare.... Vishwaguru army is still stuck with how fast it can cross a water canal in enemy territory, it's about mobility Sarr!..... No Sarr! A FPV drone is not as mobile as water jets on my IFV, APC & Light tank Sarr!.
This look far better that TATA WhAP

Lightly armed APC & IFV are getting Obliterated in Russia-Ukraine conflict in tens of Thousands but vishwaguru army k
Kaan par Joo tak nhi Rengti 🤡

TATA WhAP.......bad utilization of space & sitting arrangements & overall a bad design for moder APC.....when in rest of the world APC soldiers sit facing each other vishwaguru soldiers sit facing the side from where they will receive a direct enemy shot to their faces from many of the side port holes 🤡

Should professional armies start using civilian cars as means of transport/pickup like what Ukraine is doing for past 2 years ?

Nothing is safe from drones anymore..... Nowhere to hide. Amount of equipment Russians have lost is twice the size of number of armoured vehicles in Indian Army arsenal...... With moder Top attack ATGMS, loitering ammunition, saturation attacks Future look bleak.
Medium to Heavy IFV & APC with anti UAS systems at least have a chance to take some hits....BMP-2 weight class tin cans are a meat grinder.

Future Indian Army soldiers Coffins on the move 🤡

A sound APS is the way to go against drones/top attack ATGMs. I don't think Tata WhAP is bad. Just needs little tweaking/tuning along with few orders and then rest is fine🤣

Australia went for boxer for the same reason since it offer better protection than any vehicle of its type ......Wait till you see the IFV they are making. They are basically replacing BMP-2 Tin Cans with other BMP-2 tin cans 🤡
OFB's proposed design is nothing but a BMP2 with cosmetic changes. Absolute lack of imagination. I'm excited to see what Kalyani comes up with. They have int'l collab with Paramount Group SA for the Mbombe 4 aka Kalyani M4. They are also developing a light tank of their own. Maybe they'll add an 25mm-30mm turret to a common chassis and turn it into an IFV. December '24 is the tentative launch of the Kalyani light tank IIRC. Let's see.

One more to the December 2024 watch list.

DAC approves 10 capital acquisition proposals worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore to enhance defence preparedness

Procurement of Future Ready Combat Vehicles, Air Defence Fire Control Radars, Dornier-228 aircraft, Next Generation Fast Patrol & Offshore Patrol Vessels gets the nod

Posted On: 03 SEP 2024 4:41PM by PIB Delhi

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), under the chairmanship of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh on September 03, 2024, accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for 10 capital acquisition proposals amounting to Rs 1,44,716 crore. Of the total cost of AoNs, 99% is from indigenous sources under Buy (Indian) and Buy (lndian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured) categories.

For modernisation of the tank fleet of the Indian Army, the proposal for procurement of Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs) has been cleared. The FRCV will be a futuristic Main Battle Tank with superior mobility, all terrain ability, multilayered protections, precision & lethal fires over and real-time situational awareness.

The AoN was also accorded for procurement of Air Defence Fire Control Radars, which will detect & track aerial target and provide firing solution. The proposal has also been approved for Forward Repair Team (Tracked) which has suitable cross country mobility for carrying out in-situ repair during mechanised operations. This equipment is designed & developed by Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited, and is authorised for both mechanised Infantry Battalion and Armoured Regiment.

Three AoNs have been accorded to enhance the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The procurement of Dornier-228 aircraft, Next Generation Fast Patrol Vessels having high operational features in rough weather conditions and Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels with advanced technology and enhanced long-range operations, will enhance the capability of ICG to carry out surveillance, patrolling of maritime zone, search & rescue and disaster relief operations.

Towards the end of the meeting, the Raksha Mantri took a moment to honour late Indian Coast Guard (ICG) DG Rakesh Pal, who was also a member of DAC. The DG passed away due to a heart attack in Chennai on August 18, 2024. Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted DG Rakesh Pal’s remarkable contributions to the growth and expansion of ICG. He conveyed heartfelt condolences, prayers and unwavering support on behalf of the Ministry of Defence to the bereaved family. In a solemn tribute, all members of DAC then stood up to observe a moment of silence, paying their respects to late DG Rakesh Pal whose legacy will continue to inspire.

Nice to see the IN getting into 'block buy' mode like the USN. Although considering no infra is needed for the Bravo class, the sticker price of INR 70k cr is too steep imo. That's unless L&T or GSL get picked, of course. Any chance these ships might get indigenous AESA replacing MF-STAR?

Do we have any information on Forward Repair Team (Tracked)?
As 10 things were approved but only 6 are shown here so high chances P-17B also got approved secretly.
It's possible. Repair vehicle is probably custom BMP-2. More details of the approval will be there in tomorrows news articles.

Confirmed. Tbh the mention of 1.45 lakh crores worth procurement itself was the confirmation wrt the projects declared. At least one super big ticket involved.
