Regardless, the IN's jets will come into play in the middle of the 20s. That's a long time away. IAF alone will take until 2025 or 2026 to get the remaining 36 jets.
The Indian Air Force has projected a need for 324 fighter jets over 15 years and has officially indicated that it needs the ‘Tejas Mark 2’ (medium combat aircraft). It will carry a more powerful engine and weigh almost 20 per cent heavier than Tejas.

20% heavier will put it in the same category as the Gripen E. It will become a MMRCA then.

A french retired Dassault engineer said some month ago that indeed, the last plane of the 36 will be assembled in DRAL plant. We just have to wait until 2022....
No way a swiss made Rafale can be cheaper than a french one. The cost per hour in switzerland is higher than in France with the same technical maturity.
For India : the cost per hour is cheaper, but I think sometime you need more man hour to do the same thing.
No, 36 will be done in France, but they will build 2 more in India for training, the 2 will be DRAL property.
So they won't have weapon systems? If they're privately owned, they'll have to be civilian aircraft.
