Rafale DH/EH of Indian Air Force : News and Discussions

It would make more sense to self tag friendlies and treat the rest as hostile.

The fog of war is not so simple though.

Air defence commanders light up their radars whenever they want to, and if the Rafale lights up on the radar, AC should begin working imemdiately until a full IFF check is done, which takes time. And Balakot has shown some commanders can be a bit too aggressive in manning their AD.

Who is the real culprit in that incident? I think those who were flying the copter should have switch on his IFF transmitter. The officers who were operating the battery became scape goat i guess.

Apparently both didn't follow SOP.

IAF chief Bhadauria does not rule out procurement of more Rafale fighter jets

Here comes more Rafales.....☺☺
That’s the only practical approach left for us. Another 36+36 shall take care of immediate requirement.

We have already sunk infrastructure cost to support 4to5 sqdns of Rafale so don't be surprised if it goes to all the way to 90 that's 5 sqdns by the end of the decade even if French play spoil sport. If they whole heartedly support india in Engine development under offset clause then it will be huge for French as numbers will easily exceed than what French air force themselves operate as it means no TEDBF and mrcbf, OCRA... .☺

The IAF requirement for Rafales and the DRDO's requirement for engine tech are not related though.

As long as the IAF asks for more Rafales and it's a priority, then they will get Rafales, even if France fails to supply engine tech. Offsets can be carried out using other ways. For example, a JV for drones instead of engines.

The good thing about Western people is their timelines, a quality which we & Russians must copy from them.
Look at the F-35's timelines...

Amusingly, one of the reason it has slipped past its deadlines repeatedly is that they wanted to hurry it up, so one the one hand they set unrealistically tight deadlines that couldn't possibly be met, and on the other hand they rushed a product without double-checking or validating enough first so they ended up with tons of defects that need a lot of time to fix.

You are bringing a development cycle of a new platform. What i said in my post is all about the delivery of a matured platform. We saw that attitude in our p8,chinook, apache, recen sig saur rifles.
